How can we use increased options to create a sense of style?

By wearing something you wouldn't normally wear? Having a sense of style is usually a personal thing, as far as I am aware. Therefore I'm not sure I really understand what you mean. Perhaps you could explain a little more,

Increased options would include wearing what is unorthodox for men: skirts/dresses, jewelry, nail polish, etc.

I’ve been really tempted to wear fishnet tights to style my skirts and dresses but I don’t have the confidence yet to do it as fishnets are seen as risqué even on women. I’d like also to experience with colours with tights, skirts and dresses.
My name is Arty. I’m a guy with a passion for wearing skirts, dresses and tights and a hobbiest musician and artist. 8)

I concider anything on the open market as an option so increased options would necessitate inventing something, which could be fun.

I think I have covered most of those, maybe a bit thin on dresses. Any others you can think of?

It's not really a style thing for me.

I just want an alternative to trousers when it's warm enough and I'm not doing anything that requires too much exertion or athleticism. I am not keen on shorts, so knee-length stretchy denim skirts or cargo skirts fit the bill perfectly. Comfort is everything for me; I don't really care all that much how I look.

Interesting.....But I have just come to a realisation....I have got to 60 years on this planet and I don't think I have ever worn a waistcoat, not once.....Oh wait, I have worn this....pink and furry?

Waistcoats are an ideal top to go with a skirt, I'm thinking a tight suit waistcoat, although the furry pink one is fab.
Waistcoats finish at the right point, that is the top of the waistband and the tightness will help keep an unruly belly under control.
Yes a waistcoat and skirt could be great friends.
