Neighbors

Post by Since1982 »

Sometimes, you just don't know who your neighbors are. I've been living in the same house for 10 years, with the same neighbors across the street, I've waved at them from my yard, chatted with them at the row of mail boxes and generally been neighborly for a long time.

Yesterday, for the first time I was invited into their house. They know I wear skirts, they've seen me in them a lot, and when the wife asked me if I'd like to come inside to chat, I didn't hesitate and said "sure"... I walked in the front door and went into shock. The husband was wearing trousers, as usual, a shirt, as usual...but...he was hanging upside down from the ceiling. She said to him, Skip's here, he answered with a muffled Mummphhmump and smiled as best as he could. I'd still not moved or said anything. I mean, how many times have you ever walked into a 10 years neighbor's front room and seen the guy hanging from the ceiling, gagged, tied up, fully dressed as if he was just back from the store? His feet were tied together, as were his legs, and his arms and hands were tied behind his back in what looked like a really uncomfortable way. I passed on the coffee and went home immediately. As soon as I got in my door I called a friend in the Dispatch office at the Sheriffs dept. I told her what I'd seen. ..... She said, Oh they do that all the time, you never saw him walking around his yard with his hands behind his back before?? I said, well sure but I didn't know they were tied there.

Anyway, I guess it's old hat with them, it's not against the law according to my dispatch friend and according to her, lots of people do stuff like that. Neighbors.... :blue:

Hey, it's a good thing HE wasn't wearing a skirt...
Now that would have been embarrassing!

But seriously, they might figure that since you're a little different from the norm, you would be more apt to be accepting of their difference.

I guess there isn't a big deal......now. I just didn't know they were "into" that stuff. You'd think I'd have had exposure to everything since I wear skirts. Well, I haven't. I came to skirts through my mom and the South Pacific Islands. I suppose I'll have to stop getting slightly upset when he doesn't wave back when I wave at him across the street. I won't stop waving tho...that would be just unfriendly. Next time she invites me for coffee I guess I'll drink some and look around to see what position her husband is in. :D Everytime I've ever seen them both outside they were smiling and seemed happy. Whatever flops your mop I guess! 8)

i have to say, skip, that you've somehow earned a GREAT deal of trust from these folk. they wouldn't probably allow most people to see that part of their relationship.

it's usually very private.

Well, 10 years of living across the street, 10 years of chatting at the mailboxes, 10 years of running into them in the Publix Super Mkt. I must say that back in 2005 when I started wearing my skirts everywhere they were the first in the neighborhood to publically approve of what I was doing. Other than being invited into their house AND this is after 10 years of me NOT inviting them into my house or any but one neighbor in who lived right next to me and did chores for me from time to time. Because of the skirts before 2005, which I wore INSIDE the house only, I was a very reclusive person. And THEY'D offered me coffee a dozen times before and I'd not taken them up on it at all. So I wasn't surprised this time for them to offer me coffee again and this time for no apparent reason I agreed and went over there.

I guess the skirts were probably the reason they felt they could trust me with their "hobby", and now that I've found out from the Dispatcher friend and members here that it's obviously not an unusual thing, I'll just treat their hobby as "just another day at the beach" type thing.

Never too old to learn something new....Actually, last night I was discussing it with my next door neighbor and he said he's been over there lots of times and seen the man in all kinds of positions, but it didn't bother him at all. It's not illegal, why worry. If they like it, whatever flops your mop! :alien:

Skip,

I just hope you did not freak them out by running off. It might be worth either a return offer of a coffee or at least a remark to let them know that although you were surprised you are not offended and have a live and let live view of the world. It would be a shame to miss out on their friendship just because you were caught off balance.

Have fun,

Ian.

I agree too, there can't be many people who would let an outsider into there very private lives not unless it was "we want to tell the world what we do" a sort of I'm out just like a gay person, good luck with your friendship.

I won't approach them at all, I'll just wait until I get another coffee offer. If they want me to be a friend they will have to continue to cultivate that. It's interesting that even though I am not personally into that stuff NOW, My parents did a lot of restraining me when I was a child when they went to work because they couldn't afford a sitter or in later years, a nanny type.

My dad had me tied to the bed a lot when I was 6,7,8 through 12 years old. My mom didn't "get involved" and since I was a bit of a hellion when awake, I got used to it. Beating or restraining your child wasn't against the law then and was commonly done in the town I was raised in. Scorpios don't change with age. I'm still an old hellion with a quick fuse.

Funny thing is...I'm selling out in the keys and I think I'm moving back to Fort Lauderdale where I was raised. It's where my plot has been waiting for me since my dad bought the 3 plots in 1965. He and my Mom are already there. Just my plot left. It's the county with the highest number of foreclosed houses in the Southeast United states. I can sell out here for $200k and buy a house 3 times as large and 20 years newer but foreclosed on for 30k in a Gated 55+ community. Only thing that house doesn't have that this one does, is a canal straight out to the Atlantic Ocean. I don't fish anymore, don't really need a canal.

Well if you have the capital, now a good opportunity to buy a house at a much reduced price! Eventually the market will recover, prices will increase, empty houses be reoccupied.

I had another coffee offer. Took it up and went to visit. Nothing but coffee offered. Dad was dressed normally so was mom. (their kids are grown and gone) I was the only one there dressed differently than they were, but they expected that. They started to tell me about their "hobby" and I told them I wasn't bothered at all. Just taken aback the first time I saw it there. I told them my childhood "bondage" story with my dad and he said he had the same thing when he was young in West Virginia. She had a similar story about her dad..So everything is fine now. They offered to have me join them if I wanted to, I politely told them I'd think about it. I won't, but no reason to refuse outright. :D :D :D :D

Funny how long buried memories come flooding right back. I ran into Mrs. X at the mailboxes yesterday afternoon and she asked me in, I went in to see what she wanted. After me telling her about my dad when I was a pre-teenager and her and her hubby having had the same kind of memories she asked me the loaded question...it took me about 15 minutes of talking all around it to answer, my answer was ok, if you really want me to. You all can figure out for yourself what the question was...it had nothing to do with s*x. ~~~memories~~~ If no one figures it out, I'll tell in my next post here. :D :D :D :D
