Definite Progress

Post by cessna152towser »

For the second consecutive outing to town I have been dressed as above. On both occasions nobody seemed to pay me any attention apart from being approached, once on each outing, by guys saying they liked the look and asking where they could buy one. Possible new converts. Ten years ago I would have been laughed at if I had gone into town wearing an urban camo print box pleat skirt, now its considered a cool thing to do. The only good thing to come of women wearing trousers is that a guy in a skirt is becoming accepted.

Hello cessna152tow

I live not far from you, and like the skirt you are wearing in your photo. Where did you get it. It looks like a skirt I have seen on Midasclothing site. I normally wear a black kilt from midasclothing, made in lovely polyester. I have 2 but keep one for going out in. They crease very easily.

Hi Johnny,
Yes the box pleat camo print skirt came from Midas clothing.
I've not worn it yet to take my wife shopping at Gretna Gateway though I've been there two or three times wearing a Midas denim cargo skirt.
Men in skirts seem to be becoming quite a common site at Gretna Gateway shopping mall, I usually see at least one other guy wearing a kilt or skirt when I go there, I've even seen a guy walking around the shops there wearing an Instakilt.

I will be passing through the border 'patrols' on my way back to Scotland somewhere around 19th to 20th December, maybe a meet?

Excellent idea, I'll start a thread about a possible Gretna meet under Skirted Get Togethers.

Getting close to a plan, smart! I just hope something fits me by then, this hotel lifestyle is getting to my waistline! My favourite denim calf length now results in an unsightly overhang. I am developing an accretion disc now and the tides are getting serious, not to mention my asteroids (and the ointment doesn't help!)

Lots of folks have commented on Cessna's camo box-pleat skirt, and I'll weigh in (bad analogy, perhaps) in agreement. Well done!

So, it's now all up to where the impact strikes are going to be and how bad the cratering, eh? Where are Harry Stamper and Rockhound when you need 'em?

Hi cessna. Well did think I would get back to you. I was sending an answer to your post and telling you how I enjoyed your site and the photos of loco, planes etc, and hit the submit button. There was a flash on the screen, I had an impression of a small post, then there it was, a post saying he was hoping to be in gretna 19/20 dec how about a meet. I wanted to get a reply to you, AND TOLD TO REGISTER!! OK, I posted my user name & password, but to no avail. I had to give my details, and wait until my application was approved!! This is me getting back again. How is the idea of a meet going? I have had to alter my user name, as the OTHER ONE is in use. Well it would be because it was me.!! So my new name is johnie.

Big and Bashful has said he MAY manage a Gretna meet during the day if it was Saturday 20th.
At present I can only manage during the day as my wife is disabled and now on home nursing, so I would need to bring her along with me and have her home again in time for the nurse arriving at 5pm to take her up to her room. I could get to Gretna by around 11:30, meet for lunch at Costa Coffee and then be away again by about 3.

Hi cessna. That would be OK , on Sat 20th. Bring your good lady by all means, and my wife could come too. Its only a short walk for us, long one if it rains!! I will have on the black kilt from midas. It is less notice than tartan. Johnie

Excellent, have put it in my diary and will pm you nearer the time to finalise meeting point and time. Looking forward to meeting you and your wife. My wife will enjoy the companionship as she doesn't get out much.

OK, We are on for 20th around midday, wherever Costa Coffee is, I drive past Gretna regularly but will soon find the place. I have two options, ether my kilt or my calf length denim skirt. My Midas denim cargo won't arrive until after the meet and if it did I wouldn't get it until I got home that night.
See you then!

I suppose we should pm our mobile numbers so we can get in touch on the day, just a thought!
