My skirt

Post by jpf85653 »

I received a email from my neighbor last night, she wants me to come over and meet
her brother that will be staying with her for a few months, on Monday. The problem is
she has seen me wearing a skirt and pantyhose many times around the house, but I don't
know if she told anybody about me wearing skirts. I find that skirts are more comfortable then shorts,
and I like to wear them, but meeting her brother for the first time he may think that I am not playing
with a full deck. Now here is my question should I just wear the skirt and hose like she seen me in or
just wear shorts. confused

You could ask your neighbour whether she thinks her brother would be offended if you wear a skirt, however my view is that you should go as the person you are. If skirts are an important part of the real you then wear one, if however they are just an item of clothing that you sometimes choose to wear then go more traditionally dressed. An alternative way to say that is the recommend that you go as you would be dressed if you were just going to see the neighbour without her brother being there.

For me it's simply easier to be honest from the start than it is to turnaround later and say that you want to wear skirts but chose to hide that from someone initially. This is particularly true as the brother is going to be staying for a few months, unless you are prepared to hide you fashion choices from him all the time he is there. Ultimately it is your choice...

Have fun and let us know what you decide.

I'm with ian, First impressions are worth a thousand second ones. If you wear that invisible denim skirt most of the time, wear it when you meet him. If he notices it and asks anything, just suggest he try one before assuming there's something wrong with you. Since I started in public in 2005 I've gotten 3 converts in my town, just by suggesting they try one. Once tried, most folks never look back. my 3 haven't. :thewave:
I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

Go ahead and wear it. But, one thing that might help prevent odd situations would be to "kiltify" it a bit. Instead of the PH, wear some opague kneesocks with it. It'll never be a kilt, due to it being a denim mini, but the kneesocks should make it look less confrontational for people who aren't used to seeing skirted men. I'd probably wear a pair in navy blue or black. They could be trouser socks, regular cotton kneesocks, or wool, depending on what you have.

Skirted since 2/2002, kilted 8/2002-8/2011, and dressed since 9/2013...

I definitely agree more with the others, but it is a thought to kiltify, but ONLY if that is the look you wish to have, if it is your look, especially as the person all this is about is staying for some time. ( I am sure the Amish don't buy cars instead of horse drawn carriages just because someone is having a visitor comming over.... who is used to cars and not horse drawn carriages. ) Otherwise you will be making the mistake that is warned for in the other postings. Be yourself, and dress as you wish, not as you think others would "like" to see you dressed.

Ian, this is one of the most clearly defined postings on this subject I have seen, and I am in total agrement. That is what I at least am constantly saying, be yourself.

See your own postings of 8 Sep 07 and 15 April 08 whose content is remarkably similar. I would have thought you would have gained some insight from the responses then.
