Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. Heading out to the Post Office in a few minutes to ship off ChrisM and Milfmogs "Deadly Fathom" discs. Wearing a short sleeved pullover shirt custom made for me to match my black with fishes and whales swimming just above ankle length full skirt, wearing a black and a red prairie slip under and also a white nylon half slip. I just got my skirt in the mail yesterday after a friend had done massive repairs to it after a slip and fall accident about a year ago. I think I should wear semi petticoats (prairie slips) under any full or nearly full skirt so it doesn't just hang between my legs and has some body to it. Since I tried a prairie slip out at Bingo a few weeks ago I've worn one at the Grocery too with no adverse comments, several positive comments, but all from older women who grew up in the 50's and 60's when wide skirts with multiple full underskirts were the rage.
With one exception I'm the only man wearing skirts regularly in my area. There's an indigent homeless man that lives in a dumpster behind the Publix between highs from Ripple or other cheap wines or meth rushes. He wears black silk skirts all the time. I think he found them in a dumpster and realized how comfortable they are and threw all his trousers away. We all get around to skirts different ways. His is somewhat original indeed. If he wasn't a meth addict I'd offer him some habitat in my extra outside room, but I'm afraid his being here would get me unwanted Police attention. The cops here just consider me an eccentric now and I'd rather they continue thinking that.

Currently just in my No nonesense almost bare hose, preparing to put on my black leggings. No skirt tonight. I once again wore the hose for work due to a predicted chilly day, that did not occur. It was rather warm, but the hose were no problem. I basically just got home and began changing while checking my emails and responded to this post. Multitasking, yah.

Just travelled back from my house in the howling Scottish West Coast gales via a couple of cars, a flight and a couple of airports back to Southampton and Fareham for more of my course. All clad in my kilt, polo shirt and fleece, proper kilt hose and sporran etc. Now in my hotel room again, wearing my denim combat skirt ( as seen in pics & looks.) Comfy!
Only comments on the kilt; a man asked what tartan the kilt was in Glasgow and at Southampton the bus driver told me I was a brave man, A good trip all round!
It was the first time I saw a pilot stop on the runway, get out of his airliner and check the nose wheel before shutting down, at least it wasn't our plane and we managed to get round it and carry on.

Reminds me of a flight I was on. The pilot came on the intercom to say that we had blown a tire on take off, but not to worry, the nose gear has two tires, we would just go on to our destination (Chicago, USA), it's a big airport and they could take care of us there.
Sure, try not to worry after hearing that!
Today driving back from a weekend at the farm, moss green Bauer poplin skirt, black T shirt, reddish-purple footless tights, black Tessa clogs. A man on the opposite gas pumps came over and started asking me about the rusty antique horse-drawn grain drill I was hauling on my trailer (a gift for a friend who restores antique farm implements and structures). There is no way he couldn't have noticed my clothing, but said nothing. Later, making a pit stop to drain out some used diet soda, there were twenty or more people around the highway rest area. Got quite a few odd looks, one lady walking bebind me started laughing, but a lot of people either didn't care or were completely oblivious to what was going on. It scares me to think that that latter group is driving on the interstate! The skirt alone might not have garnered any looks but the rather bright tights probably caught a few eyes.

Today was a half and half day. The morning was spent in a heather gray t-shirt, denim cut-offs, worn with blue argyle wool kneesocks and hiking boots. Ran a few errands and did a little biking at one of the parks in the area. After I finished up, I swapped the cut-offs for the Levi's knee-length denim skirt that I own. Wore that for the rest of the afternoon, including visiting the hardware store, feed store (for some Frontline flea medicine for our pets), then the post office. I still haven't tried skirted cycling, but hope to do that tom'w morning on one of the trails in the area. Shouldn't be much different, just airier and maybe a bit more drag while pedaling.

Levi's makes a denim skirt? I thought they only made trousers.
Today it's brutal bitter bitter cold here. Alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way down to 68F. I wore my wool Fraser tartan mid calf A-line skirt, 2 accoutrements for warmth, chocolate heavy tights, long sleeve heavy weight T-shirt, sweater, and Levi Jacket, my black cowboy boots completed the outfit to walk allllllllllllllllllllllll the way out to the mail box to get my mail. Almost tripped rushing back to the heated house.

Yep, just not sold in the staffed side of the store, unlike the very rare Levi's denim kilt that was sold a few years back. IIRC, I have a pic of said garment in my pics & looks thread. It's a crappy cameraphone pic, but...

Well, today, while I was out running errands, I had a black T-shirt, navy blue pleated skirt, navy blue wool kilt socks, and hiking boots on. Did have to throw on a pair of denim cut-off shorts in place of the skirt before coming home, though - kilts are fine for public wearing, skirts are ok @ home, but still not considered ok as public wear by the family. After being home for a few minutes, I decided to go for a bike ride. Drove to the nearest trailhead, changed into the aforementioned Levi's denim skirt, while wearing the rest of what I wore earlier today, threw on a fleece jacket, and my helmet, then hopped on the bike for a while.
At least, when I'm riding alone, no long pants or shorts ever again for me. Worked perfectly, and felt much better than I expected, even with the temperatures around 40-45 deg F. Skirt is just short enough that it doesn't drape over the top tube of the bike, and is full enough that it blows downward between the thighs, preventing exposure. We'll see what it's like when the temps are cooler. Probably will just wind up layering a couple skirts or three for riding purposes when it is around freezing or below.
Down to 58F earlier today. Tights, boots, Levi Jacket with no sleeves, wool sweater, wool Fraser tartan straight kilt (sewn by me). Did the job to go get the mail. My only boots are cowboy boots, 3 pair, a black pair, a red and green pair and a brown pair. Only wear them when it's cold or I'm out in Las Vegas gambling. my Levi Jacket is probably older than most of the people on this site. my only left - over from my Biker days. Has Iron Cross patch on the back. No one down here knows what the Iron Cross was...back in the 60's..My bad boy days..Iron Cross was related to the Hells Angels. I wouldn't be here if any of those guys knew I liked wearing skirts. Wooooooooooooo!!
I just remembered I also still have a Gibson B-25 acoustic steel string guitar I bought in 1958. It's older than the jacket. O well...time marches on. God, I feel so old, turning 67 Saturday at 1:10 am.

Got to Magnuson park in Seattle around 12:45 pm or so. Added the Levi's denim skirt and my cycling helmet. Rode for about 20-30 minutes. Due to the rain squalls we had yesterday, there were some fairly deep puddles I had to ride through. Got a few small splatter spots, which cleaned off very easily. Not once did the skirt blow up, just like the previous time. Stayed down, and surprisingly enough, looked very much like a pair of shorts when I was riding. But, there was no heat issues, since there was ventilation. My upper body got quite warm, due to the exercise, but, from the waist down, I was still quite comfortable.
Finished up with the ride, then headed down to a used bike shop to see if they had any stuff on their free bike rack outside the shop. Came across a potential bike for my mother, so picked that up. Will have to do some work on it to get it rideable - missing front rim, tires, tubes.
On my way back, stopped in @ a camera shop to see if anything came in of interest. Also stopped off @ Costco for gas - $2.599 a gallon for 92 octane. By that time, it was getting kinda dark, and I decided that I wanted to go back to the original outfit I wore. So, back to the black layered skirts. Dropped in @ an auto parts store for a replacement rear wiper refill for my Volvo wagon and a can of the battery terminal cleaner spray. Also visited Petsmart for cat and dog food. Then, it was to the drycleaners to drop off a navy blue pleated skirt and a black paneled skirt off for altering. Both have elastic waistbands, so I didn't get the hips taken in. Having them both hemmed up to 21", so they can be layered underneath a kilt, if I need extra layers, or they can be worn alone without extending too far over the knee. Also will make it possible for me to wear the navy blue one while riding.
I did eventually have to throw a pair of shorts on, since I knew that I'd be coming home when the family was home, so didn't want to shock them.
The other day I picked up some overtime and I needed to be at an appoinment to talk to an attorney about a chapter 13 I am trying to file. Well, the shift started off ok, then all hell broke loose. Me and my partner ran for most of the day after that. Well, I was kicking around wearing a skirt into see the attorney. I had put on a pair of nude hose under my work uniform so it would make life a little easyer to change in my car. Well, right before the end of my shift I a figured out that I was not going to have time to change my cloths becuase I wasn't going to get off of work in time and I had to be there at my app. a 5pm. Well, as faite would have it the person that we where sent to pickup and take back home wasn't ready to go when we got there and so on. Well, the nurse that was there was in such a hurry trying to get this person ready for us that she for got to close the folley cath they had all the way and some of the urin that was left in the bag dripped out on my pant leg. So now I had no choice but to wear my skirt into the office. We did what we had to do I got back to the station changed my clothing in my car and left for the atorney's office. I went in sat down and had to wait to talk with her since she had some other people there. I just went about my bizz like I normally would if I was wearing pants and not one word was said and not one question was asked as to why I was wearing a skirt! After the app. was over and I was leaveing the attorney who is a female said you look good in a skirt by the way. I mean it was reather obvious that I was wearing one and I wasn't trying to hid it. So after the ass kicking that I took earlyer that day that kind of made my day!
The past couple days have been spent wearing a denim skirt with various t-shirts and knee socks. Did a dump run both yesterday and today. Figured I might as well be comfortable, while doing it.
I had to go to the Post office to pick up a package with 6 new skirts in it. Woman Within was having a sale on twill and chambray skirts my size so I bought 3 of each. The 3 chambray are stone washed denim A-line with walking slit in rear. The twill are 1 Orange, 1 White and 1 Yellow in cotton twill. Also A-line and slit in rear. All are 26" long. I'm wearing one of the Chambrays now, having jumped into it as soon as I got home. I've never had a Chambray before and didn't even know it was denim when I ordered it online. I wore a really raggy old khaki skirt I made from knee length shorts, Blue T-shirt, brown tights and loafers to the PO. All my skirts and my one pair of cut offs are in the laundry.
