A LITTLE SHY TO WEARING SKIRTS AND PANTYHOSE IN PUBLIC.
A LITTLE SHY TO WEARING SKIRTS AND PANTYHOSE IN PUBLIC.
I am new to wearing skirts, I have been wearing skirts around the house and
out in the yard sometimes, I find that skirts are more comfortable than shorts.
but the problem is I am getting to like wearing skirts and pantyhose more than
wearing shorts which is not normal. I think that I look better in skirts than shorts, sometimes I forget that I am wearing a skirt and answer the door.
The another day UPS came late around 630 pm. I was fixing dinner and figure
that UPS would not show up because of the storm, all of sudden UPS shows up.
taking me off my guard, I went to the door he was by the gate so I told him
that I will open the garage for him ,and to put the package in the garage.
I open the garage and he left the package at the gate and took off, This made
me really mad then it started raining. So here I am dressed in a mini skirt and pantyhose and I have two packages starting to get wet, I was going to change
in to my shorts, but for some reason I didn't, so I just took the hand truck
and went out to get the packages. my neighbors were sitting in there kitchen
and they saw me wearing a skirt. I don't no my neighbors they work during the
day, I wonder what they were thinking, if I was playing with a full deck.
sometimes I don't care what other people think and wear what I like. The problem
is I am new to the neighborhood only been here a little over a year. I wish
that men could have fashion freedom like women to wear what they like and be
excepted by the public. I would like to hear your views on this.

I've open the door for the UPS guy before wearing my macabi skirt and gotten little reaction. I did the same thing you did, I forgot I was even wearing a skirt and just went to the door. The delivery guy didn't even blink or bat an eye when he bent down to pick the package up off the ground which was right in front of me. My skirt was blowing around as there was a good breeze that day so I know he saw what I had on. I had to look twice at your picture as I thought you actually had shorts on! The skirt looks great on you and the outfit you have on would hardly get noticed.

No big deal with UPS or FED-X or even the US Mail. I wear skirts almost all the time around home and all my neighbors no it. Some have asked why but none have shown any disapproval. Fed-X showed up a couple of weeks ago with 4 turbo chargers strapped on a pallot for me. The driver thought I would have a fork truck to take them off and was going to have them delivered the next day with a truck with a lift gate. He slid them to the back of the truck and I cut the straps and me in my mini skirt took each 100 pound turbo of one at a time and carried them into the garage. His only comment was I was stronger then I looked. I told them this was the easy part as I will end up crawling outboard of the diesel engines with them on my lap to install them in the yacht. I often work out of my garage and always skirted when doing so. I rebuild the turbos there and make parts on my lathe. The delivery people are used to me in my skirts. I often go get the mail from the mailman and let my golden retriever carry it into the house. All my skirts are mini most denim or heavy cotton of various colors mostly dark. They range from 12 to 14 inch in length , this is finger tip or a couple inches below the same as my shorts. I live in Florida so shorts is the standard work or go out in clothes year round. I often go out shopping or doing errends wearing my skirts. The only thing I can't do is wear them riding my bicycle as it is of the recumbant type. The peddles are at seat height and out in front of you so skirts don't work and long ones would be caught up in the mile long chain ust under the seat.
To make a long story short ust wear what you like no one cares.

Looks denim to me...

I agree, you look good in a skirt. I too have forgotten I was wearing a skirt when mowing the lawn. It was only when bending down to clear grass after the engine stalled that I realised that i was standing close to the gate and the a young woman passing must have gotten a real eyeful.
I'm jealous of skirted sailor and boatman as the climate here in the UK does not give me that many opportunites to wear my minis when at sea.

I wish I had the guts to wear a skirt in public like some of you do, I wear my kilt as much as possible which is very well excepted, but a skirt is way over the top for me.
Last week I rode my bike 35 miles in a skort, but I don't think people take any notice as they see the bike and not what I'm wearing, but when your walking there is more time to see you and I think people would make fun of me and I don't think I could take that.

Come on Richard (and others).
What can we do to help you?
I've been wearing skirts openly for many years. I cringe at the thought of putting on trousers because I just about live in skirts - and that includes working in a government office in a major city and using public transport. I also run a school bus service and am active in church life. I do get the occasional negative comment (usually made through someone else) but mostly compliments. Like just about everyone else here I note that most people don't even realise.
Try going some distance away from home and putting on a skirt. I reckon denim and khaki from just above the knee to mid-thigh are the least likely to be noticed. Most people will think you're wearing shorts.
Go ahead and try it before you lose the warmer weather (assuming you've still got some)

Thanks for all the advice, but I have a beard and wearing a skirt people will think I'm a freak and there is no way I'm going to shave my beard off.
I have looked at a few denim skirts and I found one with a pleat in the middle which could look like shorts from the front so when I pluck up some courage I will buy it.
I don't mind wearing my skort on my bike rode 47 miles yesterday without any comment, so I will give it a go many thanks

I had a beard for a while and nobody thought I was a freak. I even smoked a pipe! A man in a skirt is a man in a skirt, whether he has a beard or is clean-shaven.but I have a beard and wearing a skirt people will think I'm a freak and there is no way I'm going to shave my beard off.
I've seen the picture of it and it looks fine - yes, it probably will get mistaken for shorts. People just don't look that closely. They register "denim" and their eyes move onto something more interesting.I have looked at a few denim skirts and I found one with a pleat in the middle which could look like shorts from the front
Why not buy it right now? It's only fifteen quid from La Redoute, so go on, order it. And when it comes, put it on and take the dog for a walk in it, or go shopping in it, or go to your local museum/zoo/park/art gallery, whatever. But I must warn you about one thing, Richard - please don't expect a reaction because, as I told you, NOBODY WILL GIVE A RAT'S BOTTOM!so when I pluck up some courage I will buy it.
Precisely. And you'll get the same response in a denim skirt - Zilch. And then you'll look back on this thread and wonder what the heck you were making all the fuss about.I don't mind wearing my skort on my bike rode 47 miles yesterday without any comment
So go on. Order it.
Stu
Like Stu, I'm not surprised nobody noticed. A skort is simply shorts -with a superfluous apron! The skirt you have spotted looks a good choice, especially with cycling in mind, if you're not too fussed about the 'right over left' closure (sorry, some of us do fret about such things!).RichardA wrote: I don't mind wearing my skort on my bike rode 47 miles yesterday without any comment, so I will give it a go many thanks

Why does having a beard make you a freak? At worst, some folk might think you're insecure, but I would have thought that only applied to the under thirties!

Most interesting! Here in the States, Old Navy sells a skirt exactly like that. In fact, I just bought one today. What I find intriguing about that skirt is that the front vent gives the impression of the garment being a pair of shorts instead of a skirt. And I do plan to wear it on my next outing!

glad to hear that you wear pantyhose
JPF,
I'm glad to hear that there are other guys on this forum who wear pantyhose and short skirts. Do you wear heels too, like I do?

Hi John, I have been wearing pantyhose for about 4 years with shorts.John wrote:JPF,

The doctor told me that it would help my legs, and he was right.
I get leg cramps and I tried just about everything. so one day my friend at work saw this add for mens pantyhose, so I ordered 2 pair and I was going
to give them a try, but I only wore a couple of times, one time I wore
them to a friends house, then they laid in the drawer for many years. In
2003 I bought a skirt off EBAY I wanted to give it a try, so I started
wearing in the house and found out that it is more comfortable than shorts.
so I would wear at night in the house when no one was around. In JAN 2007 I got brave and started to wear out side to get the mail and around the yard and sometimes I will answer the door in a skirt and pantyhose,so
far no problems. I never tryed heels maybe in the future, but how do you know what size that you wear because womens sizes are different?
