Re: Greetings from California!

Thanks, everyone for the continuing warm welcome wishes! Given that “confidence” is a recurring theme in this thread, as well as the suggestion to post some pictures, here’s today’s “weekend on the go” low key casual look that functions as “jeans/shorts and a-T-shirt” style, with and without a zippered sweatshirt. It is super easy to work your way up to more sophisticated and avant garde looks in public if you begin here, where you wear your mundane clothing — and substitute a skirt for your trousers or shorts. At this point in my fashion journey, I don’t think of “skirt days” as special, but rather as another day to embrace being alive, regardless of my sartorial choices.

In the near future I will add photos of various looks to the specialized area of the forum. Is the proper etiquette to continue adding to the “my” thread, or should I make a new thread/topic for each outfit?

EDIT: I’m unsure how to upload pics from my phone to skirtcafe. Image? Attachment? I tried the latter, but the size is limited to 768k. Any idea how I can successfully upload the snaps to this post?

Some of the posters use websites like Flickr to host the image. You then provide a link in your post and bingo you have an image.
Or as I do, you put the image you want on your phone and take a screen shot. Then resize the photo to 800 X 600 and it should upload ok. Taking a screen shot reduces the file size dramatically and barely noticeable for posting purposes.

I think it is personnel preference. In my case I saw the multi-post threads by Coder, JeffB1959, SkirtsDad and others, then started my own. It gives an easy single place to see all my pictures and a record in time of any changes that have happened.

For me, I find "invisible denim" helped, but if it's an occasion, then perhaps a kilt with sporran, socks and the whole 9 yards. Simple jeans skirts with rear slit are my go to, with lots of positive reactions. Would love to see your ensembles so it can give me some insights for my expanded wardrobe
Thank you for the welcome note. Re: ensemble insights, I’ve attempted every other day to upload some pics as attachments, but I continue to get errors that the file size is too big, even though it is smaller than 768k. When I figure it out, I’ll upload some looks. Cheers.

I would use a site like Flickr where I never get any problems on size. I resize my pictures to 600 pixels across the X and but preserve X/Y ratio, then save as .jpeg. Which those two things done, I then upload to my free Flickr account and have never had a problem on size.

My other thought, and I don't know how much of a problem this is, but all of my pictures do not cost the cafe any money in hosting, since each picture I use is a just a line of text. Also my pictures are visible to all who drop on the site in the public areas, whereas uploaded pictures can only be seen if you are logged it where ever they are.

Various notes have been added to this thread over time, but this is where I worked out how to post pictures reliably to the cafe.

I use Publisher and the 4 X 6 size page to create my shots.
Then I save them as a JPG file to my computer and
upload as attachments. For me, that works every time :D
