Red nails?

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

Red nails?

Post by Mouse »

What do the team think of red nail polish for a man's nails? Bold personal choice? Totally sending the wrong message to the world? A straight NO?

Do you mean like this Mouse?

They are red, very rich burgundy red!
The larger hand's nails are at any rate.

or this?

even this

And I will stop there.
Not bold, simply my choice and if there's a message to be misconstrued, it's too late the world and it's dog has seen them. and more, already.
Honestly, in comparison to venturing out in a skirt, the colour of one's nails is pretty low on the message priority scheme.
"Team", are you planning a rumble when you visit Brighton?

Wow Steve, yes.....I always knew you were ahead of the game.

So here are my new nails in "Double Decker Red".......I bought this colour to use at Christmas with my Christmas skirt that I didn't get round to making, despite buying the material.

Since I spindled, mutilated, and ultimately burned my man card, I believe one can select any color he wants with nail polish.

I wore the Rimmel 2-step version of the same colour at Christmas. I found the 60 seconds stuff chipped after a few days while the 2-step was still quite good after a week, although it takes longer to apply with a total of 3 coats taking around 5 minutes to dry. It is a rather bold colour but no more so than many of your outfits Mouse!

I have been wearing red nail polish (OPI Big Apple Red) on my toes for many years and I usually wear women’s open toe sandals. I get a lot of compliments on the color from women. It is not a big deal like my skirt wearing and usually flies under the radar.

On that, John, I absolutely concur!
Fashion freedom need only be limited by the extent of individual choices.
That achievement should not rely on the "man card" bit either!

Man Cards are something that men need to give up in order to make progress in the realm of fashion. It is unfortunate that most men cling to that man card like it is a lifeline and they continue to believe that they need to constantly prove their manliness. It is a sad situation and has severe emotional consequences. No wonder men don’t live as long as women.

I will wear deep crimson nail polish, but I do not wear bright red or scarlet, or pink, or orange. It's up to the wearer, but for me they simply give too much of a "female" signal.
I have polishes in black, white, grey, purple, dark and light blue, dark green, silver, and gold, and just found a nice one in a rich shade of brown. I don't need red!

So I was going out last night to see friends in a pub, hence what to wear. Then I noticed my red nails and decided that the theme had to be red. I don't have much in the red box, but I do have my long red skirt.....rest of the outfit was black and white, job done.

Quite enjoying my red nails, not sure why I had a a blockage on the colour. More things being sorted inside my own head, one by one.

I had been fine with orange...to match orange skirt, halloween, etc. but In my head, I was with you with the red and pink. I feel I have now laid to rest the red blockage, the jury is still out with pink, however I do have pink skirt, so maybe it too will go.

"Shepherd's tartan with a magenta border"!

Old Scots for anything goes, seems appropriate in this case.
