Hello...

Post by Yaun »

Hi All!
I'm from Germany and started sewing in the Corona pandemic. Some of the first easy projects were skirts, because it's what you find as beginner projects. I wore them at home and liked the feeling. I bought some skirts online and none of them fit nicely, so I started to try making patterns for me. I'm still getting better, but sometimes the stuff I imagine doesn't work at all.
Since 2023 I also wear skirts and (utility-)kilts in public and now also at work. Up to now I just wear about knee length skirts and I prefer pleated ones, as they give much more freedom of movement. I also made some XKilts... well the first one was rather close, the next ones were more and more altered for a better fit and a better waist band.
I just stumbled over SkirtCafe and I'm still reading through the threads.

Cheers!

Hi Yaun

Welcome to Skirt cafe, you are most welcome.

I also sew my own skirts and have made two kilts based on the X-kilt pattern, with my own spin. I have also made skirts in various materials.

Hi Yaun.
:welcome:
Sounds like you're off to a good start, especially as you're making your own and quite a few others do that on here.
We'd love to hear about your skirted life in Germany and of course your sewing projects.
Looking forward to hearing some of your stories.

There are a few Skirt Cafe members in Germany who post on here.
I'm sure that some may come and say hello?

Welcome yaun. I am sure you will be an inspiration to members considering making their own skirt. Probably the only way to get the skirt that ticks all the personal boxes once the necessary level of competency is achieved.
