Sad News

Post by Uncle Al »

It is with great sorrow that I notify Skirt Cafe' of the passing of our Master Barista

- - Carl Friend(crfriend) - -

From Mikeu, our newest member and Carl's co-founder of the Retro Computing Society of RI at https://rcsri.org/
He had a brain hemorrhage. The damage from the stroke was too severe to recover from. It was quite sudden.
There won't be a funeral. He will be cremated. His ashes will be scattered at sea. He loved sailing.
I will post obituary information, once I get it.

May he Rest In Peace

I am in total shock about the news. I was talking to him just a few days ago on Mouse's zoom meeting.
So very sad.

A passing of a true human.
Let's be glad that he touched our lives in so many ways and be glad for the peace he has now found.

I must add my condolences. Carl will be greatly missed, and his appearance in a long outfit was outstanding.

Sadly, I suspect that his demise is related to stress at work and the wider problems on that side of the pond.

Having many, many phone calls with Carl, IMHO, his stress level from work,
could be a contributor to his demise. He was looking forward to retirement.

We didn't agree on politics but, barring that, we had fantastic discussions.
I introduced him to the Wurlitzer Theater Pipe Organ after suggesting he
attend a concert in Worcester. MA. A fantastic musician, Dave Wickerham,
performed the concert and Carl said "it blew my mind". He was hooked :)

I greatly miss him :(
