Discussing time scale for a sartorial revolution. Women switching from skirted rigs to trousers. My observations are specific to the United States, because I can be fairly specific regarding dates.

Initial experimentation beginning in 1850. Early bloomer rig, featuring a skirt over baggy trousers.

Tail end of the 19th century. A (skirt less) version of bloomer rig, and culottes, accepted as athletic wear for women.

Decades long period with modest change.

World War II. Many women wear trousers while working in the munitions factories.

Note-the USA lost soldiers and military hardware, but was essentially spared the devastation other countries endured. The immediate post war years were up beat for Americans. So I can use 1945 as a thresh hold. In the late 1940s....

"Pants begin to emerge as an acceptable casual style, no longer just reserved for sports wear or the beach, like the 1930s."

95 years from initial experimentation, to being deemed an acceptable casual style. When trousers became acceptable as formal wear (that is, when pant suits gained traction) years later, a sartorial revolution was completed.

Looking back to the early '60s as an adult...

At that point it was expected that women would wear skirted rigs, but...there was a measure of acceptance for individual women who wore trousers.

So a question comes to mind. If over the course of that century a few men were experimenting with MIS, at what point would a substantial number of women consider a romantic relationship with such men?

I think the answer to that question is this:
If all men turned and said "we are going to wear whatever we want". The human race would not die. Men and women would find each other regardless of what they are wearing.
That isn't going to happen so the most likely answer is:
When skirted men are commonly seen on the streets.

Even now a MIS can find love, it just takes a bit more effort.
When will it happen? It's not a case of accepting men in in what is perceived as femmine clothes. Clothes are superficial but they are signpost to the wearers expression. It's about attitudes to men and masculinity from a man and a womans perspective. REAL men can only be one thing at the moment.

Some time around 3165. In other words, we're not going to see it, nor will our great-grandchildren. (That's assuming there's anything left of humanity by that time -- because we're skittering on the edge now.)

The new pope commented that the planet is in the midst of a "piece meal world war." So far, what we seem to have are multiple regional world wars going on at the same time.

Correction, multiple regional wars, not multiple regional world wars.
