Re: Happy Fall Season for Northern Hemisphere
Well I don't burn candles,
I don't wear socks or PJs,
I don't drink Pumpkin lattes,
I don't do walks nature or otherwise,
I haven't had a journal in 69 years
and it is too dry to have a campfire....
And that only leaves Harry Potter, Cinnamon Rolls, and a good book. But that is enough for me.

Adding one more: wearing leggings under my kilts.

Re: Happy Fall Season for Northern Hemisphere
Well...... As of this Saturday, 21 September you folks in the northern hemisphere are handing good ol'Sol back down to us Southern hemisphere folks to play with for the next 6 months, so, with a spring in our steps, we thank you that we can have another turn...
And BTW, what on earth is a pumpkin latte? An educated guess would suggest it's some sort of coffee based beverage.... Never seen anything remotely like that down under.
I do know what squash (pumpkin) custard is - a Filipino desert, which we make here from time to time..

Put a butter crust under the (pumpkin) custard and you have pumpkin pie. A dessert that is prominent around our Thanksgiving holiday and Christmas. If home made I usually enjoy them but most store bought pies are not all that good.
As for the pumpkin latte it is a coffee drink, one that I do not care for.

Stick to flat whites; add Baileys instead if needed!6ft3Aussie wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 1:14 pm Well...... Autumn starts in a half hour. Here it is suddenly cooler today with a high of only 70°F rather than the near 90°F we've been having. Nature walks are my way to observe the season.

Coffeeeeeee.... I usually consume about 5 or 6 cups of the stuff every day, I have a large plunger with its own hotpad heater on my desk at the office...
Baileys, like it but it's very sweet. What I do like is a black coffee with a nip or two of home made whiskey at 62%, (than stuff will sort the men from the boys) not the 40% or thereabouts that you buy for about $75 at the local Bottle'O.

Re: Happy Fall Season for Northern Hemisphere
Here in MA we have gone over 30 days without any significant rainfall up until a couple of days ago. I've not been irrigating the garden and as a result the three ~3 year old trees in our yard have already lost their leaves. I drove over the border into RI yesterday for my 6-mile walk along the bike path and I noticed that a lot of the trees had started to change color. This article suggests that the recent weather will lead to an earlier and less impressive autumnal spectacular than was anticipated.
Meant to add - I am not a fan of pumpkin pie but I LOVE pecan pie

You are right, 'tis sweet; I tend temper mine with a little Hennessy's VOS Cognac. A dear Sister here would insist upon 100 proof Southern Comfort -- good name for ye Down Under -- this might get your skirts into the office, 'ya reckon?6ft3Aussie wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2024 1:07 pmCoffeeeeeee.... Happy autumn, all
I’ve seen the last of summer and the start of autumn in Donegal, Ireland. Swimming every day in 59f /15c water. Nice and bracing!

Haha!
It’s actually okay. You get a sunburn feeling over your skin, warming you up, and as long as you don’t spend too long (one minute per degree Celsius is the guide), then you’re fine. A warm shower afterwards then a nice beer or wine. You’ve earned it.
Last night I swam with a rainbow arching over the Donegal hills and a setting sun behind me. Idyllic.
