A day on the Water

Post by Kirbstone »

An issue for the Paris Olympics/Paralympics has been the water quality in the Seine disrupting swimming schedules. Fortunately we don't have that problem here.
I digress. Yesterday End August the weathermen gave us a 'pet day', in that for a change it was sunny and I accepted an invite to go sailing in Dublin Bay. So did thousands more, so the place was a forest of sails, the vast majority competing in races round the buoys. My hosts normally do this, but yesterday was just a trip out to observe rather than compete.
Our craft was a nippy little 'Ruffian', just 25 feet in length, of which there is a fleet of about 30 based in Dun Laoighre, one of Dublin's harbours.

Gentle SE wind, but enough to fill hundreds of spinnakers.
