In all seriousness how do you sit?
Re: In all seriousness how do you sit?
I have 3 denim skirts all knee length (24 inches). 1 has a front slit, another with a back slit, and one with no slits. I prefer the one with the back slit. I just don't like the look of the front slit and the one without slits is a bit restrictive when climbing stairs or spreading my stance for whatever reason.
As far as how I sit, I push the skirt down between my legs or I sit with legs crossed and tuck the skirt around my legs.

I wear a smile... especially when skirted. The lawnmower guy was just an exhibitionist. That's why I prefer a knee length denim pencil skirt so I don't flash my underwear.Disaffected.citizen wrote:Although I find the idea of tartan underwear somewhat amusing, to all currently discussing such articles there is supposed to be a forum rule about not mentioning articles that are not intended to be seen and having no bearing upon your presentation.Kiltieman wrote:I always wear brief style pants under my kilts in either plain black or the colour of the kilt I am wearing so its never a drama if I accidentally flash when I sit down.
Do we really need to keep saying "I wear" etc, etc, etc? It is pretty much irrelevant to any topic. The only time it becomes a problem is when a skirt (not kilt) wearing man is "exposed" commando, such as the "lawnmower guy" a few years ago, and deliberately trying to do so. Such action then brings us into disrepute. Otherwise, we are probably cut almost as much slack as women if there is an accidental flash in unavoidable circumstances.

Yeah, I've seen women sitting in barstools and wearing skirts that don't reach the seat cushion.,denimini wrote:I was at a cafe the other day and there was a curvy lady sitting on a high stool in a mini skirt. I was sitting lower at a table opposite so could make an objective study of the situation. I wouldn't have called it a flash but more like a faint glimmer and if a guy got excited about it he would have to quite perverted and if someone got upset about it they would be pathologically prudish. The lady looked relaxed about sitting there and I though good on her but personally I wouldn't have been game to sit there in a mini, probably because I am a man in a skirt and feel that I should not push the envelope of etiquette as I was already challenging convention.
Not recently, but memorable. (Actually, I recall my reaction being, "Oh, to be that barstool!")
But women do seem to get away with that sort of thing more than men. I think it's just more common and acceptable for them to flaunt and flash. What's lower cleavage for them is plumber's butt for a man.
But some people, including some men, do get upset with that kind of feminine display. So there is some justice...

Perhaps I'm a MCP, but whether or not it bothered me might depend on what she looked like... Actually, no, it wouldn't bother me unless she was in her eighties, maybe...

Re: In all seriousness how do you sit?
I sit how I normally would. I usually don't sit spread-eagle or straddling an armless chair, stool, or ottoman. Most of the skirts and dresses I wear are full enough that the front of the skirt hangs down between the legs. Those that aren't, I make sure that my legs are together.

Actually that is one downside of a mini skirt albeit not quite that short; I have sat in cafes and felt the seat on my bare flesh and pondered similar concerns as with seats in public toilets and some of the metal seats give me quite a start.Caultron wrote: Yeah, I've seen women sitting in barstools and wearing skirts that don't reach the seat cushion.,
My name is Anthony, please accept me for the person that I am.

I get that on the back of my thighs sometimes but no higher. But jut above the knee is as short as I go.denimini wrote:Actually that is one downside of a mini skirt albeit not quite that short; I have sat in cafes and felt the seat on my bare flesh and pondered similar concerns as with seats in public toilets and some of the metal seats give me quite a start.

moonshadow wrote:This is a question more posed to the shorter skirt wearers on here. As some of you may know, all of my skirts are of the midi/maxi length. Of course, one advantage of these skirts is I don't have to change my sitting style as there is enough fabric to still go over my knees even when sitting shielding onlookers from any accidental flashes. While I don't really have an interest in wearing the really short skirts, eventually I'd like to get a few of the knee high variety. However I realize these will rise above my knee as I sit.
Frankly, this is a topic that men should really understand. I can comfortably sit with my knees a minimum of 6 inches apart, anything closer and it's putting things in quite a "squeeze". However this isn't my natural sitting style, and I have to work to hold my legs int his position. When I relax my legs, my knees open to about 10-12". I suppose I could cross my legs as women do (and some older men I've noticed), however even so, crossing my legs still isn't my most comfortable position, and squeezes my private parts too.
Of course I always wear underwear so I won't be exposing all, still- even though I do tend to enjoy poking the eye of this conservative area from time to time, I do have some respect for people in public who I can understand would just assume not sit across the room from me and see up my legs.
One possibility I have considered is to try to stick to knee high skirts with a wide flare so there would at least be enough fabric to rest between my legs, and wide flared skirts are more appealing to me than the more "tube" shaped at any rate, but I thought I'd pick the brains of the shorter skirt wearers here for some insight.
Skirts to the knee, and with their respective petticoat (or flada below) is very safe. And safer if the hem of her skirt is tied with the hem of her petticoat, with small strings of yarn on the side of the skirt; and in the middle part of the skirt. I tried the vientonopuede lenvantar skirt, petticoat holds because flying skirt; Petticoat is a bit narrower than the skirt. The contour of the petticoat should be as 1.05 meters; and the ropes holding the hem of the skirt are placed; and even a roundabout or bell skirt, skirt not get up. When windy skirt only rises slightly but obscures or underwear.

I think the same about the mini. If I sit, I prefer to look for a bar stool and just kind of sit/stand....I don't like my bare skin touching chairs or anything at public places...might get a rash or something.

Especially dangerous when the seat has been in the sun. I had an accident a while ago, sitting down outside a café. The hot seat was such a painful surprise that I shot up in the air again. Then, when I sat down again, I held my kilt carefully under my thighs for insulation, but got a worse surprise. I had not noticed that when I had jumped up, I knocked the seat over, with the result that I sat down very heavily on the concrete floor. The café patrons all got a good laugh.

If you read the posts from the start of this thread you will find quite a few references to what is worn under skirts/kilts by various posters.Disaffected.citizen wrote:Although I find the idea of tartan underwear somewhat amusing, to all currently discussing such articles there is supposed to be a forum rule about not mentioning articles that are not intended to be seen and having no bearing upon your presentation.Kiltieman wrote:I always wear brief style pants under my kilts in either plain black or the colour of the kilt I am wearing so its never a drama if I accidentally flash when I sit down.

Why single my post out??

I think Disaffected.citizen's post was about the whole thread, and at the time your post was just at the top. It doesn't look like a personal attack.Kiltieman wrote:Why single my post out??
And FWIW, I think what (if anything) to wear under a skirt or kilt is definitely on-topic. If you're going to wear a skirt of kilt, you have to think about that.

Agreed - we have to maintain the highest possible standard of decorum if we are to get the point across!Caultron wrote:I think Disaffected.citizen's post was about the whole thread, and at the time your post was just at the top. The, "the highest possible standard of decorum," for a guy wearing a skirt. Love it.

Re: In all seriousness how do you sit?
Yes, but there's altogether too much overload present when we start going on about what we gird our loins with (if anything). Since that particular garment (or lack thereof in the case of "Lawnmower Man") doesn't affect the overall look or behaviour of the primary external garment -- and has the aforementioned "overload" to it -- is why it's on the "forbidden-topic list" (one of the very few, I'll add).Caultron wrote:[...] FWIW, I think what (if anything) to wear under a skirt or kilt is definitely on-topic.
