Blog on men wearing skirts/dresses

Post by skirtingtoday »

Here is an interesting blog on men who wear skirts/dresses. Some are trans but many are also straight and have no wish to be otherwise.

I particularly like this one, even though it might be made-up:

I like your post about men in skirts. Well, as almost all people know, the skirt originally is a men’s garment. Knowing that I asked my employer wearing a skirt because I have to wear support stockings all the time which I can’t use under pants.

The employer’s answer was quick, a YES, but added that I have to wear for formal events a black skirt with black stockings and shirt with tie.

I can live with that.

congratulations, Caultron. An approval from the boss at work to wear skirts gives you a respectful response to your person. Good employer. I also wear for formal events and meeting black skirts or dresses with shirt and tie, but I didn't found the right business dress yet.

I was quoting a post by some guy named Herby on another board, there, and not reporting my personal situation.

However.

Last spring I was in California for our annual user conference, and after the customers left we had a company get-together at a local restaurant. I attended in a utility kilt, and no one except the president of the company said anything.

I was seated at a table but he came over and asked if I was wearing a kilt. I said yes, he said good for you, and that was the end of it. The next day we happened to see each other at the airport, me in a different utility kilt, and we just wished each other a good flight and that was all.

Now, I must tell you that this is a small company, only 35 people, and it's headquartered in California. I work as a software developmer from my house in Arizona, 100% telecommuting. As a result, office dress codes are irrelevant for me. But even so, it was nice to get a non-negative reaction from the president.

That president, BTW, has moved on and is yet to be replaced. I'm still telecommuting, though, and still wearing whatever I want. I get up in the morning, eat breakfast, and walk ten feet to work, no dress code. Not bad at all.

Coultron,

You are the envy of us all. Most of us have to jump into some form of conveyance and travel miles to work. In my case to reach the far side of my work town I have to contend with panzer divisions of SUVs & 4X4s driven by yummy-mummys who wouldn't allow their precious charges walk even 100 yards to school, so an 8-mile commute takes half an hour at around 9AM. On days when I can go in later, the elapsed time is some 14 minutes!.

This is like in Jakarta, Manila, Tegucigalpa or any other huge city where thousands of international experts blocking the roads with 4x4 SUVs. And of course not forget the ladies to bring their kids to school.

I can empathize.

For many years I lived and worked just west of Chicago. On weekends the drive took 20 minutes, on workdays 40 minutes, and when it snowed up to three hours. Then I got transferred to Phoenix and bought a house close to work, where the drive was 10 minutes on clear roads every day. But working from home still beats it all.

My commute is about four miles, takes maybe ten minutes. Hazards include a couple of school buses heading in the opposite direction, you need to be ready to take avoiding action because they take up much more than half of the road, oh and sheep, there are often sheep trying to get hit by cars on our roads.
This Winter there has been a lot of flooding, when the rain is heavy it seems to be overwhelming a burn (stream) which runs through a small culvert/bridge and onto the beach. In heavy rain this burn now backs up and flows out of somebody's drive, across the road and onwards. It gets quite entertaining hitting that at any speed!
So yes, I have a very easy commute compared to most people. If my cunning plan comes to fruition I might have a much longer commute but at least it still will be clear of towns and cities.

I read with great interest, Caultron's predicament, :( having to walk ten feet... I have the GREAT misfortune of having to walk 55 feet! Just couldn't pass this up....LOL... it might be bad in Phoenix however with the 110 degree+ temps there in the summer. Used to live in Tucson, so I understand the heat problem... Snow here today in Oregon!!!! Kilted Bob

Yes, summer temperatures in the 110-120 degree range take some getting used to. You stay inside a lot and learn to be careful touching the metal parts on your dashboard.

But at least you don't have to shovel it.
