I remember when I was a schoolkid in Carlisle, I saw at a Hifi exibition, back then in the late 70's Technics used to make incredible reel to reel tape decks. I would still love to own one.
Also, yes, Pink Floyd are still one of my all time favourite groups, the music, the production, and Gilmour's guitar work, he puts so much feeling into his work. Just incredible.

Let's face it, there are many good things to put in your ears and many nice things to use when putting the music in your ears!

The only reason I don't play the music as loud as I used to (often) is because the cats don't like it!

Not sure who's knocking Pink Floyd but it sure ain't me! I've seen them live in London and Auckland, and even have a half-speed mastered LP of Dark Side Of The Moon, besides normal copies made in Australia and New Zealand, alongside most of their other ones.
Hey, here is something, some New York bods called the Easy Star Allstars have a great album out called The Dub Side Of The Moon. You've got to hear it! Approved by David Gilmour. It is on CD, and on DVD, which I have.

Sorry about that. I knew it was private but I thought if I entered it on a forum the forum where I entered it could see it. I guess I was wrong. OK, I'll go change it but I wonder what kind of comments I'll get from everyone else... OK, I think I got it changed...Enjoy! Or not... :eye: :alien:

Just for a stir I reckon analogue is the one. Good things like valves and vinyl and even reel-to-reel ain't about to disappear any time soon. They just update them with 12" 45s and better modern tape, although I manage pretty impressive results with good old "Scotch" tape.
Digital photography is all very well. I captured the little girl in the arcade that day, while if I had used the Leica, by the time I had consulted the lightmeter and lined up the shot, she'd have been long gone! Even by the time the not flash digital one had thought, before deciding to bang off the shot, I thought she'd be gone, so fast was that little girl traveling!
However, the fact remains, that a digital thing is merely a sample. If you want to blow up a photo to make a wall-sized poster, or project on a big screen, a film is the only thing which will suffice.

To tell the truth though, I already had the shot lined up, I was just waiting for a break in the passers-by. But it was easy to slip the Canon IXUS 70 in its pouch into the pocket of my denim skirt, instead of looking like a tourist with camera ostentatiously draped over my shoulder!
To really look like a photographer, one would have a big camera of either sort and a big tripod!

My friend Chris Hart is obviously an analogue addict even if he HAS sold a lot of CDs. Here is his record shop in Auckland's main street (Queen St.)

Real Groovy -- I love it!

Valves and vinyl have their vices, but there's just something about that sound....

(This coming from a 50-year-old who can definitely tell not only the difference between an MP3 and the original digitisation but also the differences between MP3 encoders given a good master and access to the reference.)

It is so nice to see that "retro" is still "in"; if only it was as popular in computing.

Well done on the ol' flute, Gummug. Perennially nice tune. I seem to remember Harry Belafonte singing it about 50-odd years ago. Puffing wind across an open hole with your neck turned to one side and the arms stretched out on the other side ....I couldn't get a note out of one, so I confine my wind playing to instruments that are straight down the middle ( like Bing Crosby's drive!)
My laptop has been in at the menders sorting the sound out, so until yesterday I couldn't hear your dulcit tones, or comment thereon.

Here's one to interest Gummug/Mugs-and-Such: I was in Dartmouth in Devon England last weekend and couldn't resist photographing this very new Mazda MX5, as they are marketed here. This one has what they call a 'Cherished Numberplate' too. The Mazda is a lot better than an MGF, of course.
The white VW Campervan behind is our Wifemobile, in which we got there.

While I'm no expert on photography, this is no longer the case. The professionals I've spoken to recently said digital pics on decent (i.e. professional) equipment will more than cope with being 'blown-up' to advertising hoarding size.

Getting away from Radios, Pkotography & Cars &c. I have just completed THE most romantic Wedding Anniversary present to my wife that SHE could think of......A walk-in henhouse!!!

It has a roosting bar and six nesting boxes, with lids outside for inspection/egg collection.

Post addendum to previous:

Goose egg on left, about 4-6 times hen egg volume. Great for making cakes, or another goose!
Duck egg in the middle. Cakes, omalettes OK. Fried, only so-so. Boiled, a bit rubbery.
Hen egg at right. How d'ya like 'em ?
