Sizing question

I've pretty much exhausted the second hand stores in the area and am turning to buying online but a question has popped up. For elastic waist skirts, is the waist size listed in the size charts referring to the "at rest" dimension or the "stretched out" dimension. I don't want to...

Re: Man-skirt day! 1st June 2014

Not encouraging. When I read part of the article to MOH all I got back was "Go to LA or London then." So no support for any proposition to wear a skirt in support of this. Case closed as far as she is concerned. Tell YOH that if she expects to get away with dictating YOUR sartorial life, ...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

One person asked, "when did you start wearing dresses?" I wasn't sure how to answer that, especially she made me uncomfortable and I never could figure out how she was going to react to anything -- several times, she got upset about things that I thought were no big deal. Being the snarky...

Re: I did it, I did it!

Went out for the first time in a skirt two weeks ago last Saturday, with a repeat performance again today. It's amazing how invisble I must seem to the vast majority of people. "Hello everyone man in a skirt here and you haven't even realised!" I was out about half an hour at the shops th...

Re: Different reactions to kilt and skirt

The third lot are here on Skirtcafé, Rock mode.com, Intermis, i-Hej.fr, KSF (Kilt society de France), and the Brazilian and Dutch forums whose names I can,t remember. Will we ever be a majority? Martin Gawd, I hope not! "Subverting the dominant paradigm" is a lifestyle hobby of mine

Re: What do you wear on your legs with skirts

...plus it's PURPLE! SCORE! Purple is much underused by guys and needs to be revisited. One of my favourite skirts is purple and I keep trying to find a purple waistcoat. (Unfortunately, purple waistcoats seem to sell out quickly so one need to jump on 'em before they go.) Take a gander at http://w...

Re: HOW MANY SKIRTS DO YOU OWN?

I have 4 skirts that I can wear at this moment; one is in the wings for when I lose a bit of weight. The 4 I can wear now I'll be able to wear when I lose the weight as well. Anyway, my ankle length denim (the skirt of the Office Sartorial War fame ;)), a black Macabi, another black, mid-calf cotton...

Re: What do you wear on your legs with skirts

Since all the MUGs I own are either ankle length or else below the knee to mid-calf, I wear either no socks (usually with sandals) or else regular halfway-between-ankle-and-calf socks with my ankle length skirt or thobes and knee high socks with my two calf length skirts (one of which I got at Goodw...

Re: Men In KIlts Window Cleaning

There was a comment made in the first video that really bugged me. The franchisee mentioned having people come up behind him in Home Depot and lifting up his kilt, ostensibly to see what he was wearing under it. If I, as a man, EVER were to do this to a woman, I'd be arrested. Double standard indeed...

Re: How short is too short for men's skirts?

I'm not so much bothered by skirt length (although if when you spread your knees and the skirt's front hem does not reach the chair, I'd say it was too short) but I do get bothered by the "accoutrements" that seem to get worn with 'em: hose, heels, etc. I mean, if this is a "just a ma...

Re: Another dress & heels at school article

I also love the old canard of "disruptive behavior" being used to ban just about anything the admin doesn't like. When I see "disruptive" I tend to think more on the lines of getting up and running around the class, or shoving books off the desk and making the resultant noise, no...

Re: New guy

Heh. Yeah, the Hag was not pleased but since the jumper-loving manager was a friend of hers, she had to let me wear my skirt..........which I made sure to do whenever we had a staff meeting with any higher-ups in attendance! I live in Iowa City, so, being the home of a big-10 university, the thobe g...

New guy

Hello all! I'm Dmitri from Iowa. My unbifircated garment-wearing ranges from a kilt that I got while still in the Air Force (marvelous little shop in Carmel, CA) to an arabian thobe (basically a long robe with shirt-like sleeves and a standup type collar that I usually leave one button open), to an ...
