It’s nothing new to see gender non-conforming pieces on the catwalk. What nobody has been able to do is take it from the catwalk to the high street. Although some retailers are marketing gender diverse ranges, they are mostly very expensive therefore prohibitive. So it doesn’t become mainstream.

I had the thought that what would make a difference is a retailer like Primark, who is recognised for being progressive in gender diversity, and in taking high fashion to disposable fashion marketing a range of gender neutral clothes. But this conflicts me as I don’t like the ethics behind disposable fashion.

Looking at the images, the first thing I noticed was not skirts. It was that the designers show a disregard for mens shirts. It would look more plausible if the models wore some sort of top. But, of course, MIS is not the real goal here, but, rather, for the designers to get attention by displaying their clown costumes.

And if one goal is to promote jewelry for men, again let the model wear some sort of top.

Fashion designers seem to regard men as oddly proportioned women, rather than as an entirely different demographic.

Admittedly, I never looked at the price of this ensemble but it seems quite acceptable to me.
Perfect look for the office Really not too far removed from this which I sport on a regular basis. Major difference mine cost less than £200 and the bulk of that was on the jacket, bespoke wool with a mandarin collar. The skirt is from across the aisle at Next UK, £23 if I recall correctly and the rest just incidentals that I use to mixnmatch as fancy dictates.

And it is a great ensemble Steve. I am one who dislikes the dictate of wearing a tie or traditional suit but like to dress well. So this is something I would class as very appropriate for well dressed occasions. I did notice your tie.

Thanks, truth be told the tie was for effect for the photo.
It's actually an element of aisle mixing that I don't really like much.
Probably being forced to wear one for so long has some bearing.
Going back to the original thread though, in many countries it is still a mandatory element of business dress for men and some women.
Yeah, wear a neon pink micro mini if you wish but omit the tie and you are fired.
Exaggeration maybe, but a grain of truth?

I have a dear friend who is notorious for ultra casual attire. A medical dinner invite was 'black tie'. His wife was able to source an off white jacket covered in black ties. It met 'the letter' of the invite.

He is what is known as a 'rural generalist' which equates to a GP with some specialist competencies so that they are far more useful in rural/remote locations. He was my GP and friend for about 25 years and I am lucky to still have him as a friend even though he has 'retired' - unfortunately to another town a long way from here. He (and his family) gave so much to our town. He is still doing locum/FIFO work at small remote communities that struggle to get GPs. A very down to earth gentleman.
