Having read through various topics in the Cafe, many of the kilt wearers mention that they wear long socks - kilt socks with or without flashes, etc.

As many will know, I prefer wearing knee high boots of some description when wearing a skirt. On reflection, having read the various threads, I wonder whether there is a correlation here in the horizontal line created on the leg by both the socks of the kilt wearers and knee high boots that appears correct. Just an observation, but I wonder what others think.

There may be. Which is one of the reasons why I find it rather amusing that most females don't wear knee-high socks with their skirts, yet they'll go bare-legged and wear knee-high boots with the same skirt, usually with a very similar effect. *shrug*

i've always felt attracted to the combo of skirts and boots, both on myself and on women.

To women of my vintage (ie. 40s and older), the idea of knee-socks with a skirt brings back memories of elementary school, which would look ridiculous on most of us. That may be part of it.

I found this a while back, not too sure if I would wear them with a tartan kilt, but my blue denim kilt maybe OK "to me" I think that boots and a skirt are pushing into the female roll which is not for me

I think that prior to 1920 any kilted Scot would want boots for the typical Scottish weather if they worked outside and any working man who worked outside anywhere would want to wear boots if he could afford / make them. I'm sure that Vikings and other men who wore skirted garments in the earlier days in the time of the discovery and settling of new areas all wore boots with skirted garments just to protect the lower legs before leather pants or trousers were invented. Boots would protect a man's legs from the rough sides of a mounted horse in full gallop and only later did someone get the idea of inventing something that went all the way to the waist to protect in a way that a skirted garment couldn't do.

Those are nice boots.

Richard, you have pushed the boundaries for fashion freedom for the male populace by getting out there in your kilts when most are constrained by trouser tyranny. I suspect, from your avatar, you are a little older than me and can understand your views on the combination pushing into the femme role, but I thank you and the others on this forum who have paved the way for myself and others to push those boundaries a little further.

Yes, I remember those days. I'm not entirely convinced that they would look ridiculous (remember that we are in the freestyle fashions area); we're just not used to seeing that combination on women of your vintage (also mine ). It seems to be a look few women older that their mid 20s will pursue.

I have some knee-length boots plus calf boots as well - only I wear tights and mini skirt with either calf or knee length boots (I only used suede cos it so soft and feel comfortable).

I found these great knee boots for a man. Just need to buy them now!!!

I think they look quite masculine really!

I like all type of boots even "un-masculine" since most "masculine" boots and many "masculine" other type of apparel, in my country and in whole of Europe actually, are made for women I see no problem with myself wearing the "feminine" models of shoes, clothes, etc. and that accompanied by a beard and well-build figure in a what was the key word here ...aaa got it: a well-build figure in masculine way
