We were in Wilmington tonight. I was in a light brown Woolrich corduroy skirt, hem about three inches above the knee, with grey tights, grey sweater, and brown suede clogs. We saw the film "Grandma" with Lily Tomlin. It was okay, not great but not bad.

I love Halloween! Dressed as a witch last night to greet the trick-or-treaters...long black dress, witch hat, black fishnets, black shoes, black t-shirt with a circular geometric pattern in gold that I think is something between Mayan and Celtic, but served fine for spectators as something vaguely Wiccan or satanic. Had plenty of odd looks, especially our older neighbors whom we had invited for drinks after the waves of kiddies had receded. Our new younger neighbors had their yard decorated to the max, as did our neighbors accross the street. I am slowly breaking them all into getting used to my clothing choices, and most have seen me in the yard or out on walks in the early evenings. The boyfriend of a widowed lady across the street was also in an unbifurcated costume, though it was more of a horror-art wizard's robe. A fine time and much liquor was had by all.

That is exactly the outfit that I would wear. Too bad NW Arkansas is not ready for that. I know, I could be the opening shot here to bring some of the other skirt-wearing men out of the woodwork.

I've seen one other guy here in my home town at one of the local restaurants wearing a plaid-ish wool below the knee wrap around skirt. I did go up and ask him if he had been to the Utilikilt website. He said that he had. Maybe he recognized me as a kindred spirit. I wasn't able to pursue it any further, what with the family waiting and all.

Speaking of UtiliKilts, I got a text from one of my co-workers once telling me that she had seen a guy in a local hardware store in a kilt. She has told me several times that she would like to take a Utilikilt apart and make a pattern. She said that she really liked the style, but would need for it to be longer. I'm not sure that I'd be too comfortable with her taking such an expensive item apart and then putting it back together. She is a very competent seamstress so it could happen someday.

Walking up through the High street in Wells this morning; a woman said she'd seen Scottish kilts, she seen Cornish kilts, but never one like mine (denim Union kilt). I told her it was a utility kilt and has pockets. "Well done" she said, then asked if my knees get cold. "No" I replied.

Later, a young-ish couple coming towards me. He said he liked my kilt, and was it comfortable? (I wouldn't be wearing it if it wasn't  ) I replied that it was, and that I preferred it to trousers. The woman he was with seemed to agree - she was wearing a skirt.

If I want to dress like a woman, I'll wear jeans.

We went to Jacksonville tonight intending to see the Christmas Flotilla, a sort of coastal custom here, a parade of boats and miscellaneous watercraft decorated and illuminated for the holidays. We waited an hour and a half after the announced start time before finally getting tired and going downtown for coffee and pastry. I wore a calf length Woolrich Holly Hills corduroy skirt in dark brown with leggings and grey thigh-high legwarmers ( the temperature finally went to the upper forties F) with a grey sweater and brown Ugg boots. Not only was I the only man in a skirt there, but I was convinced that I was the only PERSON in a skirt, over the age of three. Though finally as we were leaving I spotted a young woman in a skirt with no wrap shivering in the night air by the river. Later I spotted two Muslim women in burqas. But that was it for non-bifurcation. I deserve an award for skirting in that place, which one of my clients (who was a long time resident of the town) once called "the shithole of Earth."

I take it he didn't like the place.
One of my older brothers, who was in the Marines, served two postings there.

With a sunny weekend and temperatures unseasonably warm, mid seventies F, I went to Topsail Beach today for a walk by the dunes. Wore my mini-skirted swim bottom, though the water was too cold to go more than ankle deep. I added a knee length black Royal Robbins outdoor skirt before going to a supermarket on the way home. A ho-hum event, but I've nothing else to report other than some recent eye problems that are keeping me worried.

Our first visit to Jacksonville was last summer, literally just a few weeks before I got my first macabi. We headed east after visiting family in Goldsboro because I hadn't been to the ocean since my age was in the single digits, and Amber had never seen it. After calling around to several motels, we finally found a vacancy in Jacksonville, a little Budget Inn, in what I can only assume was a "bad" part of town.

Nothing happened, but I could tell we weren't in Damascus anymore! Suffice it to say, I didn't sleep particularly well, and the first thing I checked the following morning was if the wheels were still on the car. All night long the crack whore and her pimp in the room next door were fighting.... got pretty nasty about 3AM. Once we got ready, we continued to head east, and finally landed on Surf City/Topsail beach NC, where we found a place to park, and walked along the beach for a hour or two before heading home.

Should've work a skirt! Would have been REALLY NICE to have that macabi right about then! Oh well, always next time. When I return to the area I'll definitely be skirting, although I probably won't go "in" the water until my summer visit. We should do lunch Dillon!

I'm not placing this as a personal story because I'm way beyond that.
Tomorrow, I am meeting up with some ex-colleagues, some of whom have never seen me in a skirt.
I'll not explain it but Gods, I am kind of nervous. I'm rather feeling like a "first timer", all over again.
However, the outfit is chosen and will not be wasted. Tally ho!

Interesting - so what is this chosen outfit ?
Certainly not a kilt or something kilt related which you should be able to pull off without a nervous break.

So come back and tell us the tale of woe - where you banned - ostracized - made to buy the round of beverages ?
OR - just simply your buddies commenting - well it is business as usual with this fellow - nothing new here - not the droids you were expecting !
Moving on now what did you expect - for he's a jolly good fellow etc. !

Each waking moment as the days go by it gets easier and easier the ice has been broken now for the avalanche !
Any day now - - -
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Please do let us know how it went. Somehow I suspect it'll be another "ho-hum" moment after the initial splash.

(Unless, of course, it's that cheerleaders' belt you picked up last week. )

Just back, all is well.
We had a very nice evening.
My skirts were discussed, the conclusion, no interest.
I'll accept that.
Steve.
