Re: Skirtcraft Kickstarter is Live
Those are good shots, Ian. I wonder if Joe has any of his skirts left in stock.
Skirt-wearing weather here is now done for the next couple of months at least; the temperature isn't slated to get much above freezing for the rest of the week, and that's going to cause problems with me getting out of my garage and driveway. It's just too cold and damp to even contemplate anything less than snkle-length, and then with heavy underskirts under that!

Great shots, Ian and I notice that Winter has stripped the leaves off the trees even in Berkshire. I didn't know that the skirtcraft bloke did them in light khaki. Very smart, I must say and my shape & length, too.
Love the dogs. I'm nuts about them, as you know.

Re: Skirtcraft Kickstarter is Live
I've now worn mine out and about a few times and I'm very happy with it. Still not quite worked out the best pockets to put everything in but getting there. Might need some form of in-pocket phone holder so it doesn't drop down so far! I've done one wash in cold water but will try a 30degree wash as a little shrinkage would be useful! I don't have a dryer but might see if I can "borrow" some time in one. I'll see if I can't get a picture or two soon, especially since I've just ordered some new boots (Christmas present to self) which should go well with it.
I didn't get hit for a customs charge - it does seem to be a bit random whether one gets charged or not, for what I order at least which tends to be relatively low value items but still over the normal threshold.

Re: Skirtcraft Kickstarter is Live
I wore my khaki Skirtcraft skirt out for a bike ride this afternoon. Just a mile or so (each way) to an overlook down a valley and over the Pacific Ocean. It is slightly more restrictive when pedaling than my longer/fuller skirts, but doesn't blow up in the breeze. I'm glad I have a step-through bike as I'm not sure I could throw my leg over a high bar in this skirt. I'm not a strong rider, so walked the bike up a short hill and down a walking path to the overlook. I got a comment from one of a pair of women walking their dogs. "Nice bike." No comment on the skirt.

Re: Skirtcraft Kickstarter is Live
Yes, I do have plenty of skirts left in stock. About two per week have been selling since the web shop was opened at http://skirtcraft.com/#products in October. There are still a few left in every size and color combination, and many left in some combinations. It's a pretty decent sales rate, I think, considering that there has been no advertising since the Kickstarter campaign, and considering the relatively high price (which is due to production being small in scale and located in the US). I'm trying to work out what the best advertising channels will be, and also what local events could be used for promotion. The temperature in Minnesota this time of year is not ideal for conveying the benefits of skirts to prospective customers.
Several Kickstarter backers have sent photos and given permission for them to be posted. I shared one of Ian's on Facebook, and it has gotten quite a few "likes": https://www.facebook.com/skirtcraft/pho ... =3&theater
Here's the full Facebook gallery of submitted photos: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 644&type=3. They're also on Flickr, and in the product section of the Skirtcraft web page linked at the beginning of this post.

Re: Skirtcraft Kickstarter is Live
I thought these were men's skirts. A couple or more of the people in your gallery look like they carry two X chromosomes.
I did finally wear mine out for a full day yesterday. Didn't think it was warm enough (~50F), but the wind was down and I walked on the sunny side of the street and was fine. About a three mile round trip walk (with a stop at Target for toothbrush heads) and a two mile round trip bicycle ride. All on busy, urban streets.

I think the main principle of SkirtCraft was to design unisex skirts, it shouldn't matter if you're XX, XY, XXY or whatever.
I'm still waiting for my replacement skirt (the first one was way to big). It arrived at customs already and it seems I have to pay some ransom again to set it free...

If you're always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.

Re: Skirtcraft Kickstarter is Live
I like your skirts finrod! And I plan to order one shortly (gotta get through the winter heating months first, or score some OT at work).
I do have one question though.... I have followed your flickr page, and I notice you have apparently created a longer one. I do like the standard knee length, but I wouldn't mind having one of each. Are these being sold as well? If so what is their price? I'm not looking for a floor sweeper though, preferably something at least to the mid calf, but short enough so that I won't have to lift it when climbing stairs.
Your website seems to indicate that due to production cost, only one size is currently being sold. I'm assuming the one photographed below is a sort of prototype.
Well, if that's the case, I would like to throw my support on the production of longer ones too.

Yes, the longer design is just a prototype so far. I'm hoping to add it as Skirtcraft's second product, but I need to prove out the demand a little bit more and formalize the design first. I'll be working on that this year. It is meant to be about ankle/shoe length, but it will come in multiple lengths or be adjustable in length. The price would be a bit higher than the knee-length skirt (which is $75) since it will use a lot more material and require a little more labor. I'm guessing it will be in the $85-90 range, but that could be off. The reason our skirts are a bit more expensive is that they're made in the US in small quantities.

Thanks Tom, maybe one day I will get a chance to visit your side of the pond, but for awhile I'll be deep in winter here.Kirbstone wrote:Liino,

Well finally got home it warmed enough to wear my unaligned skirt. While it is still winter it is only -5c which is warmer than it has been. -20c
is is just a different story. I have a picture with the tan skirt with tights, sweater and a pair of lined boots.
The fit of the skirt is awesome and Joe did great job with his project, looking forward to other models.
Cheers, Liino

Awesome pic. Lino. Great outfit and suits the conditions admirably. I also like those zip-up tops that aren't hoodies. The most practical garment around.
With that implement in hand you look like you're about to do GBH on someone. I wouldn't tackle you, that's for sure! Are you a left-hander (southpaw) like me?
We're half-way through the deepest part of Winter here and not a snowflake so far. MOH picked daffs in the garden for Christmas and more later. Whoever said the Gulfstream doesn't work? We're up on 54deg. N. latitude here and it's almost no frost so far.

Some cold air finally got here, a couple months late. It wasn't too chilly today but may not break above freezing tomorrow.

I love it finrod!
(I'm "Lunar Curiosities" with the shipping address in Bristol TN)
The wife wants me to get some more. She says this one is her favorite of them all. It is nice to finally have a "gender neutral" skirt to wear for those days when... well... you know, I just need something a little less femme.

I'm very glad you like it, moonshadow.
I took a look at the photos linked in your signature. I love the colorful, flowy ones! Especially with the horizontal bands. Would you call them "peasant skirts"?
