The solution to getting large size footwear is to get your foot into the door first (amazing isn't it).
Before boots and winter shoes are introduced early in the season get into the habit of shopping daily
and see what these places have and keep checking back frequently. Try this midseason or at the end
and forget about getting what you need.
If you have a Payless or Famous store close by strike up a business relationship with the manager
for when the stock is going to be introduced and get a heads up head start to get those large size
shoes/boots - use the internet to aid your search in getting those large boots - let your fingers do
the walking instead of your feet to seize and hold with a phone call or email those newfound boots !
My methods work - don't be squeamish or passive about your passion for large footwear !
You might have to travel a few miles to get what you want or have on hold - that is up to you !
For the record I can wear the Women's size 11 but prefer the 12 for better comfort.
In the raw the women's 11 =s a men's 9.5 or international/foreign 42-43.
There is no 11.5 per se odd but that is the way the women's sizes are marketed.
Look for the "W" - W = Wide. Women's shoes are "B" or "M" medium width same as what would be
a men's "C" (which you will not find in the retail markets). Men's shoes are commonly "D" width
which equals the women's Wide. The Wide width shoes sell out fast remember that. Women no longer
have those Cinderella slippers in Petite sizes !
Other considerations are the heels on women's shoes - no not the heel Height but the actual heel width
inside the back of the shoe - women do have narrower heels width wise than men - so you could expect
to have a tight fit in the heel which may just kick your sizing up one size for a better less tight fit.
The so called if the shoe fits wear it - well there is some truth in that - the best thing it the trial and error
method of actually trying the shoe/boot on for fit and comfort - therein is the problem with internet
shopping like Ebay - so make sure you have a liberal return/refund policy when going that way.
Good Luck and don't let the door slam shut on your foot after leaving the store - Ouch !
