I saw her skirt and immediately thought - I want that skirt.

She was a random stranger on the tube wearing a nice skirt, I have no idea where she got it. I just took a covert picture of her. However I did a quick search with "boho", "maxi" and "long" type words and came up with many skirts I wanted to buy in a similar style. Many of them have elastic waists with draw strings which I like. A couple of options from many. I certainly think I want more long skirts in my life, after the weekend experience.

Sorry for this Mouse, but I have just re-read your post.
What I say stands, but I rather feel it would have been better if you'd asked her permission for the photo.

Ah Mouse, you've caught the bug!
Now you can have the dress shopping fun experience that women know oh so well already, retail therapy!
Only one bit of advice, try to do it in brick and mortar space if you can, that lends a frisson to the whole experience that cyberspace lacks.
Finally, take a companion or 2, and double even treble the laughs.
Above all, enjoy!
Steve.

Mouse wrote: Sun Oct 13, 2024 4:14 pm So my fear for Spirou003's lady in the white skirt may have been misplaced. I enjoyed my time in the city with a long white skirt and would not dissuade anybody from wearing similar, they are a lot of fun. Not entirely sure white is a good colour to drag along the floor in a city, but that was part of the brief. As if to show me up, as I sat in my seat on the tube, this lady walked into the same carriage. She did not take a seat, but stood and swirled her skirt as the train moved. It was obvious from her smiles to her friend and actions in moving the skirt, that she was enjoying her skirt and the fact she was wearing it. As you can see in the picture, it was a loverly skirt in a grey colour.... :)
I really love that long skirt the lady is wearing on the tube. Be great to know where she bought it. Also, Mouse I’m liking the white long skirt you are wearing.

I have started buying long skirts since buying that lovely paisley skirt from Matalan a few weeks ago. I bought a long black skirt with slkts on the sides from Matalan in a sale for £5 reduced from £10 and another long skirt in blue for £6. I’ve been wearing the long black skirt a lot with sheer black tights and fishnets with my Doc Martens and my black leather biker jacket and the guy at my local guitar shop made a nice comment about my outfit which boosted my confidence.
My name is Arty. I’m a guy with a passion for wearing skirts, dresses and tights and a hobbiest musician and artist. 8)

No difficulty in screen-shotting her here, BM, except that the photo was so tall and thin that her head and shoulders went off the top of my 9:16 phone screen.

Did you ask permission to take the photo and post it?

You are sailing very close to the wind taking a picture of anyone without consent and then posting it online - breaking data protection rules etc.
Do that in Scotland and you'll be spending the night in a police cell.
Please ask before taking a photo, you are doing such a great job promoting MIS but you'll really set everyone back if you end up in court.

Yeah - I agree with Susie on this one. I was thinking you should at least crop the photo so her face isn't visible.

If you are in a public place in the UK, anyone can take your picture without your consent. I am not using this picture for commercial gain and it is my copyright. I am not using the picture in a demeaning way, quite the reverse. GDPR rules have an exception for the freedom of expression and information.

However, I have cropped the poor ladies head off and reattached the headless picture. The last thing I want to do is to create grief for the cafe.

Are we happy with the edit or would you like me to remove the picture entirely?

Sorry for creating issues.

This is also my understanding of the law on the left side of the pond -- and I used to do a lot of architectural photography in a city-scape in my younger years, and it's impossible not to capture people in that context. However, a picture of an individual, skirts into a bit of a grey area here, and I'd be cautious. (The place isn't what it used to be, and we (in the USA) no longer even have a reasonable prospect of privacy in our own homes. Call it the "progress of the decades", as we circle downwards.)
Sorry for creating issues.
We'll be fine. No worries. She was a cutie, though, and I can readily see her twirling that thing for the sheer fun of it! Isn't the imagination a fun device!

Thank you Mouse, it's such a grey area but better safe than sorry.
