I've never tried a denim skirt but I own a navy blue acrylic kilt and I've found I'm invisible in it, even compared to wearing a traditional Scottish kilt here in Scotland. In fact only once when wearing it has anyone ever paid any notice and that was one day in Glasgow when a drunk lying on the pavement complemented my "nice skirt". Like Christopher, I'm 55 and used to drink too much alcohol, but I succeeded in giving it up completely 2 years ago.
