Got my haircut today and stopped in at a few places on the Ohio State Campus to ask questions for an article I'm doing for a local paper (about dorm room posters as OSU students move in next week.)

Wore the Beatles t-shirt and knee-length black skirt that I have on in the "Yesterday and purchase" thread in the pics section.

Today was a white button down shirt with a short black plaid skirt (mid-thigh), black pantyhose, and my chunky heeled 3" loafers.
Does wearing pants make you a lesbian?
You like mushrooms. I like pantyhose. What makes your taste OK, but mine not?

I felt unusually fashionable this morning, instead of my normal various colors twill straight skirts, I put on my one and only bright green tiered ankle length peasant skirt and filled it with underskirts. Black and red and white and blue ones. I have a red and blue and a white and black petticoat and I stuck both of them in there over a black slip. The peasant skirt has a nice wide A shape in the mirror thanks to the underskirts. Topped with an elbow length sleeved Hawaiian shirt and sandals. Now to go see what they think of my finery at K Mart. I've worn this same outfit to Bingos all over the keys so it's not something new for folks here. :alien: :flower: :alien:

Yesterday I felt very fashionable when I got up and got thinking about what I was going to wear to the K-Mart store when I went there to buy a new TV (my Toshiba went spootch).

I decided to get my only peasant skirt out of the closet and wear it for a change, it's a bright green, is completely full, (think circle skirt), has 6 tiers, and is ankle length. Because I'm bigger in my top half of my body than the lower half I can't wear a full skirt with nothing under it or it just looks like a limp dishrag. So I added my red and blue and my white and black petticoats and a white slip under them, which filled out the skirt very nicely almost like a 1950's style poodle skirt, plus I love the swish of the crinolines against my legs when I walk. I wore an elbow length sleeve Hawaiian shirt and leather sandals to make my ensemble complete. 8)

I went out to my Ford Aerostar van and got in and started off to K-mart, I got about a mile when a blue light filled my rear view mirror and upon looking I saw a Sheriff's deputy behind me. In 10 years living in this town I've never gotten a ticket or been pulled over. I pulled into a parking lot and sat in my car waiting for instructions. An officer who looked about 11 (probably 21) walked up beside my van and started to talk, then he saw I was a man and stopped cold. I'd not gotten my hem in the van when I left home and he pulled me over to tell me it was hanging out my door. When he realized he was talking to a man in a full skirt his whole temperament changed from helpful to odd. He suddenly screamed at me to get out of my van and get on the ground, of course I hesitated as I didn't want to get my favorite skirt dirty and he shoved me from the back and I lost my balance and hit the dirt. :(

I tried to tell him who I was and he should call dispatch and ask them about "Skip" who wears skirts etc. but he was all into his tough cop persona and wasn't listening. He cuffed me, threw me into his car and took me to the station. As soon as he marched me in the door the Sheriff himself stepped out of a room and took one look and said...Hi Skip, what's going on here?

I told him everything that had happened and he immediately removed the cuffs and asked the deputy to go with him into his office. A few minutes later the young officer came out with a red face and apologised profusely to me, he was followed by the Sheriff who sat down with me and told me this officer was only 2 days with our local dept and no one had told him they had 2 men in our town that wore skirts instead of trousers and if I could please forgive him he'd make sure this new officer would never do anything like that again. I accepted his apology and left...I went straight home with no TV...I went for the TV today in a somber khaki twill straight skirt because I was still in a pretty somber mood. :(

This is the first time I've experienced a really bad time just because I was wearing a skirt. I hope this type thing never happens again. :(

I'm sorry to hear about your travails with the local law enforcement people, and am happy it worked out. The punk was out of line, and the sheriff knew it, and also knew that the kid had opened the department up to a big liability suit. Had you been injured in the exchange -- which was pointless and unnecessary -- you could have taken the department for quite a chunk of change.

That said, I'm glad I wasn't the rookie. I imagine he got quite the talking to.

We're never far away to be labeled as perverts in the eyes of general public (and law enforcement). This story is just confirming this and all the trouble with trying the skirts in the shops is coming from the same bag.

Skip, I hope this will happen to you only three times: first time, last time and never again ---> to add some humor. :D

And as my dear wife is saying always; there is always something good in everything that happens to you. This rookie will never touch you again.

I might never wear that skirt etc. again. Last time I did wear it to Bingo an old woman about 90 just without any feelings reached down and lifted it up to see what was under it, she lifted it high enough to see my everything that was under it, a total of 5 people saw what was there. THEY all just turned away and minded their own business, SHE shouted out to the room HEY EVERYONE, THIS IS A MAN IN THIS DRESS!! HE MUST BE A FREAK! By then of course I'd gone right into the BPOE office and got the head elk out there to shut her up. I'd already bought my $50 worth of Bingo papers and I wasn't leaving. That was 3 years ago. Yes, I've had my "skirt" travails too. I didn't bother to tell anyone in the room that it wasn't a dress..why keep it going? I just sat at my table and spread out my skirt so I wouldn't have to get up the rest of the evening unless it was to scream BINGO!!! I've always liked to spread out full skirts when I sat, they (to me) just look so nice with the multi - colored petticoats showing around the hem. That time I had all 4 of my petticoats on, blue, red, black and white. They keep your legs nice and warm in the Winter, which was the time of year they have Bingo games in town.

I wish I was thin enough to Contra dance. Maybe if I keep losing weight I'll still be able to do that before I croak. I dream of Twirling in one of my full skirts and some petticoats. AMM really does all that and I'm so jealous. :) I have 5 full skirts but that light green peasant skirt is the only one anyone's ever made a remark about. When I was in Jr. High School I was always jealous of girls because they could wear all those nice skirts and petticoats and we were stuck in uncomfortable pants. :)

Skip,
To me, what that officer did was way beyond something settled with a verbal apology from him and his Chief.

Clearly he (the kid, the officer) thinks he's allowed to abuse and arrest someone who is "different" for no other reason than that they are "different", and he has a badge. Well, false arrest and abuse are not OK. I'm quite sure there is no law against a man wearing a skirt in your town. It's not just allowable to wear a skirt because you are "Skip", one of two skirt-wearing men in town. It's allowable because there is no law against it.

He abused his power, and engaged in unnecessary physical violence (police brutality in other words).
He should at least be suspended without pay for a period of time, and not allowed back on duty until he serves a period of probation under the direct supervision of a more experienced officer. The incident should become part of his official record.
I also think both the officer and Chief owe you a written apology.
