Last October, while cheering my wife who was running the Indianapolis Marathon (held at Ft. Benjamin Harrison), I saw three men running the race in kilts. One of the kilted runners was the pace team captain for one of the pacing teams. I cheered them heartily. In March of this year, I thought I saw a guy in a utility kilt during the set up on friday before the Kalamazoo Living History Show. I didn't get the chance to get over to him to clearly see who it was and what exactly I saw because I am on staff and had duties to perform. During the event, I tried to figure out who it was but to no avail. There were of course, several men in kilts, both the great and wee kilts (I was one of the great kilt wearers) during the event. Another "sighting" is a group in the central Indiana area called "Highland Reign." They are a popular band that plays regularly at an Irish pub in West Lafayette. The group sings both traditional and contemporary songs including rock and roll with bagpipes! The three men in the group, of couse, wear kilts. now that I own a kilt, I am looking forward to going to hear them sing dressed more properly - MUG style! I have never yet seen a man in an actual skirt. Here's hoping some day.

I used to swim in the Marathon Indianapolis (it's not held anymore) it was a laps yearly competition at the Key Colony Beach at Christmas of 30 laps of the Olympic sized pool. Key Colony Beach is on the Northern border of Marathon, a town on Key Vaca in the middle Florida Keys. The water temperature at X-mas in the water averages around 75╒. The above water temp is around the same 75 degrees farenheit. :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint: ...

The other was a man who was of North African origin, and he wore a garment which looked for all the world like a man's casual long-sleeved white shirt, except that it went all the way down to his ankles. Ideal for a hot sunny day, if you ask me.

Just remembered, on the way home from our hols, while we were queuing in Geneva airport, there was an announcement that a flight to Edinburgh was about to close so could anyone going for that flight go to the front of the queue. A few seconds later we were passed by a Scout leader and about half a dozen kilted Scouts.

Quite a few Scottish Scout troops have the kilt as part of their uniform. Good to see them taking it out and showing it to the world!

Spotted another skirted man in Edinburgh last night.

It was just off the Royal mile on George IV bridge. The skirt was just about knee-length, predominantly light grey with a set of thin stripes (red/black/white) in a chevron pattern over the bottom 6 inches. Wish I had one like it as he looked fantastic!

If you are on here, good on you mate! Well done!

Was in Edinburgh again last night and saw not just one but two fellows in kilts as described above - only the chevron pattern actually covered the whole kilt and not just the bottom section. Still looked a great look!

I wonder if it is an outfit for the hotel there as on both occasions, they were just outside it. The hotel is called Missoni (Edinburgh) and seems to be a fashion centre as well as being a 5-star hotel - possibly the men were models showing the latest fashion?

Missoni is a designer known for zig-zag patterns. It looks like the hotel uniforms are related:

YUP! That's the skirt I saw - twice!

I think I want one but the wife is likely to have other thoughts... :(

Good for you gorcee finding a picture :D - I tried looking on their website gallery of fashion pics and couldn't find one. :)

Eborian - Do you have any further information on that? Length, colour, pattern (if any). I am thinking of getting one or more from this site.

Anyone else used/bought them and if so what do you think of them?

Kyleakin, Isle of Skye, sunny hot day Friday 10 August. Boy of about 14 in lovely white summer dress, on his own. Good for him.

That could have been little ol' me. Wife and I had walked across the fields into Wells and were cursing ourselves for not bringing any money for an ice cream. The sarong came from 'Sarongs on the Web' in New Mexico. I bought it come years ago but the company seems to have disappeared.

In the wild today, two skirted blokes at the Kyoto Steakhouse in Mansfield, Massachusetts (USA). However, it was a staged event between AMM and myself with dear Sapphire along who upstaged us both.

A good time was had by all, although Sapphire and I are now sort of wilted from the 80-degree/90-percent temperature and humidity.

In The Pot Still bar in Glasgow this evening, a kilted barman. Normally I wouldn't mention a kilt in Scotland in this thread, but it was a plain kilt, and when I asked him where he got it he said "Seattle". So it's a Utilitykilt, and he has two, which he has been wearing for many years - today's certainly looked well used - and when they fade he dyes them black again.
Keep on skirting,

In Norwich last week in a branch of a well known chain store. There were two people serving behind the counter. One was a middle-aged woman and the other was a younger man. Both were wearing similar uniforms - Sweatshirt bearing the company name and black, above the knee skirt and black tights. In my opinion the tights didn't look right on the man. Bare legs or long socks would have been better but congratulations on the skirt! Was this you??

Early this afternoon in The Hague I saw a man wearing a long black skirt.
Later today leaving the supermarkt here in Sweet lake city a couple with a young daughter just walked in, the guy wearing a black UK.
Men in black....
I was wearing my jeansskirt.
