One thing that wasn't mentioned, where tartan came from, in any sense of the word.
Steve.
Huh?
Given that a kilt is a garment inextricably linked to Scotland, I’m guessing that Stevie is alluding to the fact that there’s probably no mention of this history in the video (I haven’t seen it and have no interest in it). Would that be right, Stevie?

By the way, and for general information, Scottish people are referred to as Scots, not Scotch. The latter is an alcoholic beverage.

The video is from an American company selling a new tarten that they will make into a kilt for you. Their YouTube channel has plenty of Scottish content, since they are showing what they are selling has Scottish roots and therefore is authentic and therefore you should buy it.......

By not watching the video you have no chance of being sold this new kilt, so you have sadly missed out on this buying opportunity.... :D :D :D :smashpc: :hide:

A perfectly authentic word from the sponsors anyway.

Probably more kilts in daily wear in America than Scotland Ray.
Steve.

Not everyone can afford a "Proper" kilt

:wall: At least they're being worn by men who are discovering the freedom of a skirted garment :|
Be happy for them :!:

My levity in this thread is all to do with the seriousness taken with the original video. I have watched many videos on this channel and learnt much about tartans, kilts, sporrans and other Celtic traditions. However the sales line has always been there and the knowledge that this is an American view of the subject. As for quality and whether they are proper, I have no knowledge and no status to decide.

The 8 yard kilt at around £500 Sterling is in the low - mid range pricewise, that's ignoring any shipping or added costs to the UK.
I'd imagine the quality would be middle of the road as full bespoke fitting and tailoring cannot be achieved with mass production.
"Proper", is entirely moot and a matter for the person buying or wearing the thing.
Steve.

Don't have the special kilt, but I have been wearing long skirts over the last few days and I put this picture together to wish all our American friends happy 250 birhday
