The man's kilt is too short. Should be at least knee length to midi length IMHO.

Fact is this whole thread is about kilted skirts, it has nothing to do with The Kilt as it's accepted these days.

Too short to be a PROPER KILT, but looks comfortable and decent to me.

If I wasn’t so overweight I’d wear a kilt at that length. I just need to lose the weight and I’d buy a short kilt.

Above the knees for me, but not as short as the tartan skirt the iman is wearing. 10 cm/3-4" longer would be fine.

In general, I like the picture. I agree that the 'gents' skirt is WAY too short.
IMHO, his skirt should be at the knee or about 1 inch above the knee, MAX.
With a skirt being that short, a person would be showing off tomorrows
laundry with just a light breeze of wind
I like the pattern but, No Thanks :!:

Just my $.02 worth :D

The search term for garments like shown in the OP is 'hostess kilt' or 'hostess skirt'.

Regarding the AI image, the skirt does not look too short to me, the top and bottom of the outfit is proportional in length. Women would wear 'safety shorts' with such a skirt if they were concerned about exposure.

The whole 'men's kilts must be knee length' thing is really dumb. People's bodies are proportioned differently, not all skirt lengths look right on all people.

I allowed myself to lengthen the man's minikilt a bit. From this:

to this:

Now it has the length, which I would proudly wear, not as a kilt, but as a skirt.

Can you fix it so he has tights instead of socks?

That's a much better length, I have some women's kilts that length or just a tad shorter that I wear. The "mini" versions that are less than 16" are a bit too much, although they can be nice with leggings in the winter.

With tights, the short skirt version looks much better on him than with bare legs.

That's what I wanted to see and I totally agree with you.

It is also a look I use when I wear short skirts.

You cannot beat the look of black tights with short skirts. I always wear black tights when wearing short skirts as I think it looks good. In fact I wear opaque black tights with short skirts and fishnet tights or sheer 10D black tights with longer skirts.
