Re: Skirtcraft Kickstarter is Live
I donated. I want another skirt! Let's get this going!!
Re: Skirtcraft Kickstarter is Live
I would love to order one but the cost factor, on a fixed income,
is keeping me from purchasing one. I've paid these kind of of
$$$$$$$$ for a Stillwater Kilt, but not for ANY of my skirts.
I guess I'll have to wait until they are on the market, with
greater availability and lower costs. Hey - I'm Irish & Scots.
I've been known, especially lately, to make a penny scream

$ 69 is not expensive at all, considering the fact that a designers bureau has to be paid and a quality manufacturer is going to produce a small run of 150 skirts.
Levy jeans cost at least double.
But I have to admit I am not going to buy Joe's skirt simply because it is black. I hate black clothes, unlike Mick Jagger.

I am however going to back Joe with a donation.

Re: Skirtcraft Kickstarter is Live
That may be the case in Europe, though I hope not. If you're paying $69 for Levis in the US, you don't know where to shop. I'm sure the skirt is a quality garment, and, like Al, I'm left wanting one but trying to rationalize it when I have an exploding closet already. Maybe after I finish paying the upcoming college bills and our summer travels I can buy one.janrok wrote:Come now, Uncle Al! $ 69 is not expensive at all!

"We're hoping to add colors, though! If we reach our goal early, we'll add stretch goals for additional colors, one at a time."
If you tell Joe your preferred color and it becomes a stretch color before the end of the project, you could still make your pledge.

If you're always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.

Dillon, here in the Netherlands you can't get Levi's jeans for under € 130 = $ 150. Levi's are available at Levi's stores only.
That's no problem for me because I don't wear denim trousers.
Barefoot Joe, when Joe of Skirtcraft first appeared in Skirtcafe he was wearing a khaki skirt and that is the color I prefer. My wardrobe exists of 3 fake tartan kilts, two long skirts for indoor use and a roomy jeans skirt in dark blue denim. A few weeks ago I disposed of a dark navy colored pleated The Urban Apparel mens skirt because I never wore it; it was close to black. See pic.Wat I still don't own is a sturdy khaki A-line skirt.
Last few weeks I have been busy consulting Joe via mail about the possibility to make a khaki skirt for me but he wrote he was going to start a crowdfunding campain.
I then wrote to him I would be the first to buy one.
Then a nasty animal interfered with my plans: A survey monky to decide what color the first production run should be in and that was NOT khaki but black! A lot of emailtraffic between Joe and me followed and if there would be a second run Joe admitted it would probably not be khaki. Joe advised me not to pledge for a skirt if I really did not want black.
That's the story.
Within a few days I will make a pledge for $ 20 as a donation without reward. Everybody who is not going to pledge for a skirt could do that. Jan

Re: Skirtcraft Kickstarter is Live
WOW!!! And just as I was thinking Levis were overpriced in the US! I do wear jeans for work when in the field, which is nearly every day, but I prefer Red Camel and Carhartt for price and quality, respectively. Wish I had a job I could do kilted or skirted, but I have limitations imposed and a very conservative client base. I make up for it in my personal time.janrok wrote:Dillon, here in the Netherlands you can't get Levi's jeans for under € 130 = $ 150. Levi's are available at Levi's stores only.

Re: Skirtcraft Kickstarter is Live
Jan, thanks again for your support! To clarify: if we get to a second color, I'm guessing based on past survey data that it will be khaki or charcoal grey. I wouldn't know which it would be until surveying the project backers, and it could even turn out to be a different color.

Re: Skirtcraft Kickstarter is Live
And, although some og the pledges are for less than skirt value they are balanced by the number pledging for two skirts so there is a commitment to 100 skirts now. Great start! Hopefully, a second colour will be added at which point I shall probably up my pledge to cover two skirts (so long as the colours are no too similar).janrok wrote:100 pledges!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have fun,

Took my pledge down, and it's not because I don't like the project. I'm getting another skirt, but I'm waiting for the second color. Black is awesome for print skirts and maxis but meh. I'll wait till a blue or green, then I'll get a skirt..and finrod already knows this

Re: Skirtcraft Kickstarter is Live
To those who think I'm 'stingy' with my $$$$$, I want to set the
record straight. Being on a "Fixed Income" my priorities have changed.
I'm now putting my health first over new clothes. Tomorrow I have pay
$460.00, my share, to have a tooth surgically removed.
Then in September I'm looking at $4,200.00 as my "Out-of-pocket"
expense for cataract surgery with lens implants. First eye surgery on
1 Sept and the second eye surgery on 15 Sept. Then I'll be able to see
without glasses.
