do you wear tights or not
Re: do you wear tights or not
varying responses which is very interesting, like some people i do very much enjoy the freedom between the legs that a skirt gives you, however i do find that in the cold winter months wearing one of my denim mini skirts can be very cold on the legs and it doesn't look right with long socks, so i find that wearing a pair of tights is more comfortable than putting on some trousers. when wearing a long skirt (rarely happens though) i will never wear tights, as when wearing a school skirt, as i find that long white socks looks good with the school uniform.

Re: do you wear tights or not
Some years ago, on holiday in Germany in the depth of winter, I found some tights (male with fly-front) and bought them to wear under my trousers. Not unusual in Germany it seems, though I've never seen anything like that in France. Made a difference to the warmth factor, but I felt encumbered, not really comfortable -- trousers were made far too tight in those days anyway!
Subsequently, I wore them only under a loose north african jellaba.
Never worn any since.

Re: do you wear tights or not
In winter I wear tights almost every day - under my suit. They are shiny and opaque so work well with trousers, and keep me warm. This stops once the ambient temperature exceeds c.10C (50F)
In temperate climate (UK summer) I wear sheer hosiery - either with shorts or with a skirt - or even a modern (not trad) kilt (I shave - but there never was much there in the first place, so it looks far better and is easy for me). I, like Pythos, find the sheer hosiery/skirt combination far more comfortable than trousers - simply because (a) one already has some constriction (others may use the word "support") in wearing underwear and (b) any compression effects exhibited by sheer hosiery are far outweighed by the restrictive movement of trousers. Anyway, mens hosiery, with extra space where it matters, deals with that issue nicely.
I happen also to like the look of hosiery on my legs (and indeed on womens' legs) and love the feel - temperature dependent.
When it's warm (and for me that's above 70F/21C) then it's highly unlikely that I will wear any hosiery. It's bloody uncomfortable at such temperatures, and the joy of wearing shorts or a skirt with bare legs is something to behold.

Nope. With skirts it's bare legs for me!

Not I. I won't put down other's choices, but, for me, I'm most comfortable in a skirt with a pair of kneesocks. Tried tights a few years ago. They were ok, but not what I found most comfortable.

Never tried them and never tried the shaving of the leg, the feel of the skirt/kilt is what I like.

Re: do you wear tights or not
Tomorrow is a tights day. Wind chill in the -20 to -10 degree F. range and I have about a 6 hour trip by car to make. In the event of a break down, keeping warm become critical - (will also have food, extra blanket etc.) but the travel is a must.
Unfortunately, I won't be skirted for the trip. Oh well, it's part of the joys of living in the upper midwest during January.

Tights with most skirts, knee high socks some of the time depending on style. Knee hose for formal kilt outfits as that is a required part of the rig.

I wear tights (pantyhose) in the winter. I find they are adequate protection from the cold when outdoors yet not overly warm when I come inside.

Usually when I wear skirts I don't wear hose or tights [tights or opaques]. With my Utilikilts, I'll wear hose/tights depending on the look I'm trying to achieve. Most of the time whenever I'm wearing shorts I'll wear hose/tights of various colors, usually suntan but blue and black are also nice!

It's truely wonderful to completely understand who and what you are. I agree with the "tights are just another pair of pants, thinner perhaps, but pants just the same'' group.Python said: There is no comparison between wearing pants to wear a skirt with tights or hose. At least to this freak

Re: do you wear tights or not
My usual combination is a knee-length skirt with knee-length socks, but I do like to wear tights now and then, and certainly if the skirt is above the knees.
Tights vary so much in fit that it can be quite hard to find the right ones, but since the better tights (even the overpriced "men's" packages) are designed to fit women like gloves, and we're not women, worse is generally better, I find.
After much experimenting through the years I've now settled on either:
(1) cheap supermarket sheer tights, with no shaping or support, so that our male bits are easily accommodated. They have a nice light feel for everyday wear. I'd never wear these in public though; they look a bit tranny, and a bit silly over my hairy legs which I refuse to shave.
(2) when it's cold, Levante wool-rib tights in extra-tall size. These are nice and cosy, and have a great tall'n'slim fit. I don't think they're they're the slightest bit cross-dressy, just a sensible option for any man during cold weather.
It's nice to have the choice, isn't it?

Re: do you wear tights or not
I like to wear tights with knee length formal dresses and moderate heels (2.5 inches). If the dress is mid-calf and informal I will wear socks and boat shoes in the winter months. In warm weather I am bare-legged (shaved) when I wear informal dresses and denim skirts, along with sandals with heel heights of anywhere from dead flat to 4 inches.
I have no problems with ordinary tights since my boy bits are on the small side.
I feel like a little kid with pajamas with built-in booties when I lie down on the couch while wearing tights (of course, with my shoes off). I do shave my legs, arms, and chest. Tights over shaved legs feels much better than with hairy legs.
If I look tranny I don't care. It's time men got over worrying about that the same way as women have gotten over worrying about looking too "butch" where wearing typical men's clothes.
I guess I am not that died-in-the-wool skirt-wearer for I alternate between dresses and conventional men's pants in the winter months.

Re: do you wear tights or not
I have discovered tights when I was working in a cooling house at +1°C (34°F). There were many people having sweat pants under their working trousers, even additional longjohns, and they suffered. One pair of thick quality tights underneath the working trousers did the trick for me. Others wouldn't listen, except for one guy, but I never met him again, so I don't know, if he is wearing tights now. But there is one reason why I don't like tights: the foot parts. All tights I know have a seam at the end and this seam wanders back and forth in my shoes, causing discomfort. In the meantime, I have discovered tights without feet, well, leggings in tight-fabric, whatever you want to call them...
Under shorter skirts, I find tights very impractical, because they require shaved legs. Anyway, I am not wearing skirts in public yet, and at home I am comfortable with bare legs. Indian churidars would be an option for those, who like crotch-free garments. They are very lose at the top, drawstring to close and tight on the lower legs.
On my racing bike, I do wear leggings, so there is no need for tights. Usually without skirt, but for rain and wind protection, I have a medium length rain skirt and then it is skirt and leggings - well, not exactly the idea of this thread.
I do not wear tights for the looks, because I think, that they neither add to nor take from the male appearance.

Re: do you wear tights or not
Yes, for me it's a matter of which skirt I'm going to wear with my tights rather than which tights to wear with my skirt.
I've always liked the look and feel of them and when the legs are shaved find they compliment a skirt. My journey to discover this came from my prefernce for wearing shorts which often meant cold legs so I tried tights but while my legs looked good and felt warm I found even the more expensive tights uncomfortable with the shorts so I then tried a skirt and found this combination far more comfortable and the choices of skirt far preferable to dull shorts. Unfortunately the wife thinks this is a step to far and while tights and shorts are ok she thinks a skirt and even a kilt on me is too feminine. I have to agree with her on some styles so to avoid the tranny look I wear a knee length skirt or a utility style kilt, plain tights with no fancy patterns or shine and hiking type boots.
Besides the ladies love to see men sporting their legs and tights help to enhance even the most weathered colourless of legs.

I want to wear skirts without judgment just as women can wear trousers.
