I think a short guy will do better with a shorter skirt. I like mid thigh length in the summer. In the winter a longer skirt is better.

I have very long legs. Although I'm 6'2" when I'm sitting I appear shorter than others around me. I prefer a skirt that comes to just above the knee.

KiltsAreAwesome said: So I've been trying out different lengths, since my comfort zone is knee length, and I was just wondering what your guy's opinion is on how short our skirts should be.
I agree with all that except for one word. "should"... Who's to say what length another man's skirt "should" be or "shouldn't" be?? I prefer "could" be, which is entirely up to the wearer I'd think. Too risque or short has it's own results with the law, making for built in rules.
too long makes for some sloppy or wet hemmed mistakes, depending on what part of the country's we live in. Weather that's too hot or cool have built in problems too, depending on skirt length.. :D :D
I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

Like others have said before it all depends on the type of body you have. I do have awesome legs and I have very athletic body and could go very short. But I like 2 to three inches above the knee max in the summer. I think that mid thigh is the limit. Above that it is very difficult to manage and does not look serious. At that point I wear short shorts. Taller people with long legs should stick to just above the knee, otherwise you are selling your legs: I am not sure this is what a guy wants to do (just my opinion). Mini describe any skirt above the knee so it is a very broad term.

Trust me, I can read a tape measure... :D

Remember that where a hem sits is not only decided by the length of the skirt; where the waistband is positioned also impacts the hem position. (I should also perhaps point out that I am 6 foot 3 and have a 35 inch inside leg measurement.)

Have fun,

Ian.

I agree with the house and garden assignation. I get a great kick out of donning 'unbifurcated' garments, especially over tights. I generally prefer the length to be above the knee, as I still have good pins to flaunt....even if its only for the camera.
In public I'll wear shortish shorts in Summer, like now.

I don't think there is a "too short" limit. I probably "push the envelope" more than most on this site; most of my "summer" skirts are in the 9" or 10" range. (I do have a few longer ones for winter and specific occasions when short ones would not be appropriate.) So far I have been surprised at how few people even notice the length, much less react in any manner. Even if I go down to 7" which I had done once or twice.

Wow! That is pushing the boundries. At ten inches I'd be dangling below the hem, given where a wasteband has to sit on me if the skirt is to stay in place. Seven inches would only reach half way down my backside

I reckon the reason people don't notice skirts that short on you is to do with the limiting resolution of their eyeballs not being able to see a thread that fine :D

I don´t think there is a "too short skirt" rule. Its up too you and nobody else. I love wearing mini skirts. A mini skirt is my favourite type of skirt. I very often wears a mini skirt in my free time. Often a 14 inch mini skirt. Most of the time I´m wearing pantyhose or tights to my mini skirts. Except in the summer when I´m bare legged.

I could realy be in a mini skirt to office too but its not ok. Its not ok with the "dress code" there. The other girls has told me, they have all been told NOT to wear a mini skirt or a skirt that´"too short".
No body has been telling me this but I feel that I have too accept this "dress code" too. I sort of is standing up for the girls so I´m not wearing a mini skirt to office. Its not fare to the other girl if I should come too office wearing a mini skirt while they coulden´t.
This way I´m sort of more accepted amongst the girls. I showed them I´ve accepted the "dress code", I´ve accepted it too.

Still I love my mini skirts. Talking to the other girls about this. They too love wearing mini skirts too but we´ve accepted it, wearing mini skirts to office isn´t ok for us. We´re expected wearing skirt/skirt suits not shorter then 1-2 inches above the knees and not any shorrter then that.

A+J, You mention 'other girls' in your above post twice. Are you a girl? If you are, you can wear what you like of course, within the Office House Rules.
Most of us blokes can't do that at work, so we indulge in our leisure time only. Personally I'm not keen on little skirts so short that I can't sit on them. I'm just looking down at a denim 16"-er I have on right now, and truth to say, it only reaches half way in under my seat as I sit here. It's really lovely when I stand, of course, and I can just curl my fingers under the hem when I straighten my arms down. but that's about my personal limit for shortness.
