Maybe they will be the next big thing once the current craze for onesies dies down. You never know! But how will the manufacturers or advertisers get men to buy them? (Or, maybe slightly easier, get women to buy them for men?)

They are an all-in-one suit, bifurcated with a hood. Bit like a bunny suit without the ears. I believe that they have feet as well with a plastic base to provide a bit of hard wearing under the foot.

Onesis - I've got four very nice on a cold winters night

In the past I have been somewhat frustrated when looking on line for mens' caftans. Do recall coming across mention of patterns for sewing. The one I purchased was listed as "Unisex"-for men and larger women-and I have to wonder if this design may be the only one available for purchase in the future. Because a small number of female customers added to a small number of male customers may be the only way to generate enough business.

Onesies : Thanks for telling me. I shan't be ordering one !!! Since they're selling them off cheap, presumably no-one else has ordered them either.

Caftans : The pictures showed mostly short jackets. I thought caftans were always long (they used to be in North Africa). They can be very stylish, but are almost always worn with trousers -- even in tropical Africa (crazy!).

In Morocco and Tunisia, in the hot summer, men wore foquias or jebbas, calf-length, sleeveless, and sometimes evne went without their trousers.

I never wear trousers with kaftans but then again I do not wear trousers.

I once mistook a Mongollian coat for a dress like garment. Goes to show how little I know about clothing from different cultural back grounds. This reminds me of a thread from another forum-about "modernizing" imported garments with pockets, modern fasteners.... Imported garments are by and for these nonWestern cultures, so in a Western context they should be considered experimental. After we discover what works, and what we like, perhaps we will simply come up with our own designs.

Being in an experimental phase, I imagine that DIY projects are our immediate future.
