What skirt style do you prefer?

After a nagging thought that some people have said that the skirts I wear are not masculine. I thought I would do a little research. Nearly every skirt I own is.. loose. Some would say floaty or flared. It had not really occurred to me that flared skirts are any different from straight cut skirts. Most of the second hand skirts out there are flared. So that's what I've been wearing.

My style preference depends on what I'm doing, the weather, and my mood.

I prefer sturdy fabrics when I'm doing dirty work and work that might cause tears in flimsy fabric.

I prefer warmer materials when it's cold.

Sometimes I feel like having something pretty, bright, and colorful.

I often take big steps; I prefer styles that do not restrict my stride. Floaty or loose styles are comfortable. I have a full beard so feel free to not worry about whether someone considers my style "feminine" or "masculine". I only get misgendered from behind, and, as I don't consider women to be my inferiors, I don't care.

I'm in the soft, flaired and loose, my prefered rule of thumb would be that the hem is 3x the waist... Its supposed to be comfortable and the extra hem makes them look and move a lot more dynamic around you in a way anything tight does not.

That said as for what is most often worn... I don't often get to wear my skirts anymore, unfortunatly my wife after a lot of deliberation decided that the kilts are as much as she is willing to compromise, so most days that is whats on me, I'll take one of the others out on the odd chance I'm home alone.

I'm kind of with Jim on this one, I live in the country and most of the time I go for what's practical and I won't mind getting dirty or such when I'm working outside or building something. We don't really "go out" to where I'd want to dress up more formally. I do have some flowy, softer skirts that I'm enjoying wearing around the house but I have not worn them out and about yet. I will probably get to that point though, soon. Looking in the mirror and online I feel like flowy, longer skirts can still work for men with a selection of colors/patterns.

I wouldn't worry too much about if your skirt is typically coded to one extreme or another, as long as it looks good and you're happy wearing it.

Same Jim. I wear what is needed for the occasion. I've haven't been misgendered yet but it would not worry me if I was. I am mostly bald so hard to mistake for a female.from any angle.

Men should have the same rights as women so I'm happy with my flaired skirts to be masculine.

Me too, but I would extend it to straight styles as well as A-line, but not pencil styles that narrow from the hip as they are designed to emphasise the female shape..

Well, the freedom is always there but if the cost is my marriage, its not worth it - in the end its still only clothes, even if kilts are no where near as comfortable as a good dress or skirt due to the large waistband, stiffer fabrics and lack of elastic waist.
I guess I could say what I don't want her to wear, and in this case I'm sure she would comply to be even - I don't see any reason to do so though. Maybe if society changes she will relent, but untill we start seeing men in skirts/dresses daily I don't think she will relent. She says its because that she is not attracted to it, but I think the social stigma is the bigger culprit. Nevertheless, I'm laying low for the time, kilts are still a lot better than jeans .

I'm with you, for all the talk about beeing equal women should be pushing to get men out of the box and embracing themselves and taking a stand against the unwanted masucline traits, surely they must recognize that its precisly this steriotypical labeling that is causing a lot of the issues in the first place.

Have you talked to her about in the terms you have said? It's this attitude which has to be tackled (tactfully).

I tend to go for something fairly straight and in the summer on or just above the knee as i'm less likely to catch it on something. I do wear flared skirts but usually only indoors as I can find them more comfortable when sitting around.

I find that I prefer the more flared out type of skirts, in particular mini-length tennis skirts.
What really appeals to me with skirts is the freedom of movement and these style of skirts give me exactly that.

Have tried on longer length skirts in the past, but didn't quite feel right in them, wouldn't completely rule them out in the future, might just be case of finding the right style.

I like to wear an a line style skirt and normally in the longer length so midi to maxi in length and lined if possible.

I tend to go for what I guess are more masculine jean style skirts with pockets, usually in relatively thick material. Some of it may be a confidence thing, but also, I just happen to feel they suit me more.
