Tights for Men

Post by Mouse »

One of the things I got for Christmas from Mrs Mouse, is a pair of tights for men.

They are navy and 60d in thickness.

I got around to trying them out today.

They have a different gusset that gives more room for male equipment.

For me, they are fine, comfortable and a fun gift. I would put them into the same box as my SkirtCraft gender neutral skirts. For some, the fact that they are "for men" is really important and allows them to wear tights under their kilts or gender neutral skirts.
I am pleased they exist and there is a market for them, but I like the wider choice of colours and patterns available on the pink side of the shop and the extra gusset space to me is not so important.
They can be found here https://amzn.eu/d/2CtZMMP

I'm a full-time leggings wearer.
Underwear, outerwear, sleepwear, in-the-house and out-and-about.
There's now a huge overlap of definitions between base-layer, thermals, compression underwear, athletic tights and leggings.
I'm getting a lot of advertising (especially on Instagram) for tights and leggings that look, for all purposes, unisex.
You can easily find leggings in any color, not just black. Patterns, plaids, seasonal and holiday, camouflage (a favorite of mine).
Nothing against tights, I used to wear them. Leggings are cheaper and easier to deal with, with many more colors and designs.
I have got a few compliments from women, but there are so many men (cyclists, joggers, etc.) in leggings that they hardly get noticed.
I have worn leggings a few times with skirts or shorts or skorts, but in warm weather I prefer bare legs.

I love wearing tights especially sheer or fishnet. However, fishnet tights are the only tights that fit me properly as plain tights don’t really go up to my waist and always fall to my hips. I have got to wear them under cycling shorts to keep them up. Tesco are the only place I can buy plain tights that fit me properly. I usually buy the XL 40 denier black tights which are great.

If I’m feeling adventurous I can wear fishnets and they go right up to my waist and fit properly because fishnet tights are really stretchy anyway. For ultra sheer tights I have to wear them under cycling shorts to keep them from falling down. Another thing I do is cut the tights at the crotch to get them fitting me.
My name is Arty. I’m a guy with a passion for wearing skirts, dresses and tights and a hobbiest musician and artist. 8)

The only tights I like to wear are the crotchless ones. They are more comfortable and make it easier to go to the toilet. I haven't seen any marketed as "tights for men." Marketers present them as sexy, while I'm looking for comfort and practicality.

Yes, I have catsuits, leggings and leotards. I have followed what is available for men over the years, having worn leotards and catsuits from the pink side of the shop all my life.

So this was interesting to have standard tights, with a picture of a man on the front and text telling me why they were appropriate for me. It indicates to me that more men are buying tights for the marketers to think it worthwhile actually doing a range for men.

By the way, welcome to Skirt Cafe, please feel free to post more.

I tend to wear tights:

1. Under trousers for warmth; or
2. Because I am suffering from eczema on my legs and a dermatologist advised putting them on after applying ointment.

Men's tights are generally way more expensive, so I just stick to ladies' products.

Why not just wear women’s pantyhose like I do? Why do we need a package that says “for men”?

Actually Jamie, we don't.
Like Stu rightly pointed out, "for men" comes at a premium that is less than fun.

jamie001, I am with you. The point of the thread is to document the fact that a company making tights, thinks it is worth the effort to make a range for men. I only have a pair since Mrs Mouse saw them and thought it fun to get me a pair to try. All of my tights and stockings have all been bought from the pink side of the store. This will continue into the future because I like the price and the choice.

Before Christmas I bought what were supposed to be Mens leggings, I hadn't got around to wearing them yet but I've just got them out of the drawer to find they are the same make as the tights Mouse mentioned, however these are 80 denier which for leggings seems a little thin to me so i'd say these are really footless tights, see what you all think?

I’ve got the same problem with many tights I’ve bought on line, they are just too short even though I’ve bought XL. The Sainsbury’s tights I’ve got aren’t silky or thin enough. So I might try fishnets. Thanks for the information

They definitely look like footless tights to me, I've always seen leggings as something that's not only footless but opaque in nature.

As for tights, my two US sources are Sheertex, which makes an extra-tough line of tights—they just won't run no matter what you do. Catch them when they're on sale and they're not that expensive. Various times of the year they offer colored and patterned tights. I have one pair that's one leg green and one leg red—it makes for a festive costume when worn with the right dress.
The other is We Love Colors. They offer tights, leotards, catsuits, socks, gloves—all custom colored in a rainbow of colors, including bright neon and tie-dyed ones. They are a favorite of those seeking to make costumes for holidays and cosplay.
