Skirts..........Why Bother?
Skirts..........Why Bother?
'Skirts........why bother'? seems to be the opinion of many ladies these days, many of the ladies I know wear jeans or leggings, sometimes with leggings they will wear a long tunic top or a long jumper. If the weather warms up they may wear shorts or for a posh event they may have a summer dress but I get the impression that, these days, many women do not even have a skirt in their wardrobe. Where does that leave the future for skirts? What women wear skirts these days? solicitors? Funeral Directors? news presenters on TV and schoolgirls?
Are skirts heading for the dustbin of fashion history? Where does that leave us?

Re: Skirts..........Why Bother?
My wife has one dress and no skirts. No blouses any more. I used to try on her clothes but not now. She wears jeans t shirts and has short hair and cotton underwear. Not very inspiring for a relationship IMHO. Her swimming costume is masculine in design. She has no makeup. She only wears trainers. She knows I like floaty silky Lacey clothes and long hair for a woman and for women to look stylish l so now I suppose it’s up to me.

There is a different attitude by women to the skirt, many see the humble skirt as something they had to wear. Others see it as an expression of their femininity. For men it is a taboo and we risk being labelled as something we don't want to be labelled as. But as long as women want to express their femininity with one (many do) or for smart occasions or just because then they will still be around and millions circulating second hand stores for years to come.
As a man if you do not give an outward impression of anything other than a man then that's what you will be and let the gender wars rage around you..You can wear one as well. Nobody is going to approach you and tell you that you are not man enough in one.
So all good, the future looks bright for those brave enough to wear one of the greatest and most versatile articles of clothing ever invented.

Re: Skirts..........Why Bother?
My partner doesn’t wear or own any skirts or dresses. I bought her a dress for her birthday but she has never worn it. She wears jeans or trousers all the time and doesn’t like skirts or dresses but she likes me wearing skirts and dresses so I shouldn’t complain.
It’s becoming depressing shopping for skirts as most of of the clothing in the women’s clothes department is now trousers or jeans. I’ve seen colours and patterns I’ve liked and checked to see if it’s a skirt and then been disappointed that they are actually trousers. The clothing in women’s clothes shops are starting to becoming as drab and boring as men’s.
Anyway my best place for buying skirts and dresses are in charity shops. I’ve bought some really nice skirts and dresses there and they have only cost me from £2 to £5.

My name is Arty. I’m a guy with a passion for wearing skirts, dresses and tights and a hobbiest musician and artist.

We can't complain about women exercising their free choice to buy and wear boring trousers, since we want free choice to wear skirts.
If one is in a relationship, you can voice what you would like your partner to wear, and you can offer an opinion if asked. However, you have to realise that you do not get a vote in the matter. However, you in turn, can insist on your free choice to wear what you would like.
As for obtaining skirts, the place of choice is online, where there is a far wider choice than in bricks and morter shops. I also think that the shops play it safe with the duller colours in the shops and leave the more interesting colours online. Yes I know you can't try things on or feel the fabric, but you can always send things back that you do not like or dosen't fit. Amazon is especially good in this regard and other online retailers now have to be as good to compete.

Why bother? Health reasons.
The gynecologist, Robert A. Bradley, M.D., wrote that women need to avoid wearing clothing that provides a path for bacteria from the anus to the vagina to avoid infections. This implies skirts or dresses and only unbifurcated underwear.

And the same sentiment of course should apply to us, the man bits are on the outside of the body as they supposed to be kept reasonably cool which is a real reason why skirts make perfect sense for men.
The real problem is how do we convince the masses?

Re: Skirts..........Why Bother?
The reasons are as varied as the individuals who wear them are, and that's fine. It doesn't matter why a person chooses to wear what they do, whether it's to be fashionable, comfortable, rebellious, ridiculous, for health reasons, or whatever. A person should be allowed to wear pretty much whatever they want, and in spite of all the bickering to the contrary, the truth is that we pretty much can. The limits are mostly self-imposed for whatever reason.
