Duh (I had to think a little about "UK") but I got it. And now I remeber that they have something called a Spartan...they're all pretty similar, as I recall. The snaps have a heavy, fused facing/backing on them when they're on single-thickness material. I have no idea how well they'll hold...

Well, they wrap whichever you wish. The first one I made (the zebra faux fur) accidently wrapped the wrong way. Don't worry, that was for a customer, and the rest will wrap the right way! I'm new to this forum...and I don't know if I'll even post much, but this thread caught my eye. AMM says it all so well, I have nothing to add to his comments...except -- 1) It's so funny that you're on the outskirts of London & kilts seem weird -- the most AWESOME punk kilts are made there. $$$...
