What does a 'Battle Kilt' look like? That's a new one on me! Mind you, I gather some US folk wear Kilts made from Plaids - or are both of these items what we know as "Great Kilts"? That is to say, Kilt & Plaid combined? Confused Brit. I think the term "battle kilt" was made ...

Seems like one solution would be to invite a much larger friend over and the both of us could have gone over barechested in black utilkilts to discuss the issue further (e.g. kick some ass). I know its not the PC answer but I bet it would create a stir, but your mileage may very. Another answer woul...

Just spent four consecutive days (over Easter hols) at Blackpool hockey festival. As is the norm, my kit was sox, shirts and skirts (pleated wrap-round and straight lycra) from 9am Friday 'till 1pm Monday. The only time not in a skirt was taking breakfast in the hotel! By Monday, tired, weary, hung...

skirt reluctance?

Often I read post by those who would like to wear skirts in public on a regular basis but can't/don't -- and of course many things get in way. But I'm not sure it is the end of the world to be wearing a skirt in public. In fact I know it is not a big deal, I wear a skirt in public 2-3 times a week e...

Personally I wish wearing a skirt wasn't being different, but as normal as wearing jeans. Life would be a lot more comfortable then. I think the world would be a better place if skirt wearing were as normal for men as women, and it would make skirt wearing more comfortable -- but it is not and I'm ...

[snip...] What is happening here? I am stating my own opinions of my own appearance - so why do some posters feel the need to try and pick a fight with me.[snip...] I think that you may have started the fight with cries of "ageism" and other put downs. Of course I (and others) joined in -...

Why wear a skirt?

As I read the various posts over the past year or so, it seems to me that the most important reason for wearing a skirt is missed. Often comfort is cited or equality, occasionally one's femine side (not too often), etc. But it seems to me that a man wearing a skirt sends a powerful message about soc...

That's just ageism. It suggest prejudice and a closed mind. Charges of "ageism" and other similar claims are a fall back to name calling. In today's society name calling is used a substitiute for critical thinking and careful consideration of other's viewpoints. What length skirt is best ...

I think the most practical skirt is a plain, dark colored skirt 35" in length and with a broad enough hem that that you can large steps without being caught by the hem. Macabi's work well. Short skirts on 50+ year old men work even less well than on "women of a certain age." Full, mid...

I've worn macabis every time I am in the UK and never rec'd an agressive or negative reaction. But I wear skirts regularly and so I think I wear them just like any other clothes. I do wear skirts and clothing that present a masculine image in colors of black or grey, but I rarely have had a negative...

Is it any wonder that US students lag so far behind those of the first world. US students are not as far behind as you might believe. I am always amazed at the poor education levels of students from Europe, particularly from France, Spain, and Italy. But I am not overwhelmed by the education levels...

But I think that the biggest part of wearing a skirt is that men are concerned about being different. I don't women as a group are raised with the same level of concern about being different as men are. As a man, being different can attract negative and confrontation attention in a lot places from p...

Contintuing the off topic discussion. In the US you see the increased use of lecturers (non tenure track teaching faculty who have PhD's) to teach classes and you see in England and increased use of the title professor in the traditional US fashion. I have friends in English universities that are as...
