Re: A woman taking over the suit....

However, it is clear that (unless the picture has been reversed, which does not appear to be so since the men in the background all have their lapel badges on their left side) that all three parts of her suit button to the right, not the left. Does this mean that she used a “man’s” tailor to create...

Re: A woman taking over the suit....

Stevie, It looks like my attempt at irony has fallen a bit flat! Of course she is not wearing "men's clothing" - I actually think she looks very nice in her trouser suit - but it is people like her husband who promulgate the belief that men like us who wear skirts out of choice are wearing...

I wonder what her husband thinks about his wife wearing "men's" clothes?

A big welcome to the café from me too. I live a bit further west from you along the M4 in S.Wales and having overcome the initial scary feeling now wear a skirt almost all the time - it’s great!

Re: Hello hello !

Hi Dani92, Welcome to Skirtcafe. As others have said most of us on here have gone through exactly the same angst and found that it is mainly in our head as most people don't even notice and those that do rarely comment. However it may be that in your "conservative part of the country" you ...

Re: That rare male compliment

I got my first really nice compliment from. a male stranger today. It is a warm and sunny day and I was wearing a just above the knee skirt on a local walk and a council worker who was wearing a pair of quite short shorts stopped me and said, "That a nice skirt. Perfect for this weather. I wish...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

We’ve had some warm and sunny weather lately and I’ve taken to doing some long walks with bare legs and sandals. Most people probably don’t notice my skirt or, if they do, they pass by with no comment but yesterday a lady smiled at me and said “Nice and airy” - just hope I heard her right and she wa...

Re: New to the cafe, a bit about myself.

Welcome to the cafe Kevino19, As others have stated you will find a lot of support and advice from other members. Most of us have had to deal with the same issues you mention and I certainly value the encouragement and help I’ve received from being a member. I now wear a skirt virtually every day - ...

Re: Hello from VA

I'd like to add my welcome too. As several others have already said your predicament resonates with many of the members of the cafe. I faced the same problem and still do to some extent. Unfortunately logic (women can wear what men traditionally wear - trousers/shirts/ties etc. - without any comment...

Re: Gone Quiet

I think we are in a golden place in time in the UK. It is unremarkable now to see a man in a skirt on the street. What does seem remarkable is that you rarely see a woman in a skirt on the street now either. It may be because it is winter but in a carriage on the underground the other day there wer...

Re: Hello from Galicia, NW Spain

Hola John, Welcome to the cafe. I spent two weeks in La Palma just before Christmas and wore a skirt the whole time. Although it is the Canary Islands rather than mainland Spain I had no adverse comments either in restaurants or simply when walking about. Most people probably didn’t even notice, so ...

Re: Upskirting - Should the gender of the skirt wearer matter?

I actually wonder if the identity of the skirt matters any more than the person wearing it. This thread lies under the main heading of "Advocacy & Mens Skirts "( sic - for lack of an apostrophe). I would rather the main heading was simply "Advocacy & Skirts". We have some...

Re: Hello from the Desert Southwest.

Welcome to the cafe Wadar. I'm in Wales, UK and like the Emerald Isle we do not have any deserts here either, and it rains a lot too, but still a good place to wear skirts. There is a wealth of advice and support ready and waiting for you.
