Re: Commonwealth games 2014 tartan
I agree the colour combination does look a bit startling "on the roll", but the photo at the head of the article suggests it will be a little less so when actually worn. But being neither Scottish nor an athlete, I couldn't say whether I'd wear it.

Re: On (ancient) Music
To get back on target, mostly, to music, it's not often that I am so taken aback as to be rendered almost speechless but this piece -- Living in Eternity -- by Tangerine dream did just that to me this evening. Thanks for the "Tangerine Dream" clip. I still have the first LP I ever bought ...

Re: This is the future of classical music.
Lovely video clip. About 40 years ago I could still play that piece, though not as well as that , despite having given up piano lessons at 15, some years before. (but I was never that good, and used the "small hands" excuse to give up). And as for "Last Night of the Proms", I ech...

Re: First time?
First time out? A favourite country walk, wearing knee-length blue denim. Main impression the feeling of freedom and ease of movement compared with walking in jeans. Comments? At the top of a steep rise, soon after the start of the walk, a couple sitting on a bench enjoying the view. I said "Go...

Sinned wrote "I got mine from ebay and just contacted the seller to get the actual dimensions. Worked for me. I have bought several long skirts on ebay , and haven't hit a problem yet. Being short, I only bid on skirts with a definite quoted length (36-37 inch), and size 14 for an elasticated ...

It would be interesting to know the ratio of skirt-wearing females on the average university campus also. I have also noticed an increa...

Re: fashion shows having more men in skirts
Found this pic and comment in my morning paper this morning. Apologies for the quality of the picture . I had to use a camera, couldn't find it on the web. Looks less far-fetched than most offerings on catwalks. Rather a guarded comment, I thought. Is it to late to wish all a Happy New Year? Patrick

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Yesterday evening had my first sight for years of a skirted male.( I used to run a pharmacy next door to a church, so saw plenty of kilts at weekend weddings, all in tartans to which the wearers may or may not have been entitled.) But yesterday's sighting was a plain black job, on a youngish bloke, ...

Survey completed. Hope it helps, and good luck with your project. And yes, I do wear a skirt, but seldom in public.

Re: How did you start wearing skirts?
It all started with a conversation, after a day out walking, when my son's partner changed her jeans for a skirt. I commented that it seemed unfair that men didn't have that option, and were stuck with trousers or shorts. She argued that a man could choose to wear a skirt, but was unlikely to, becau...

Re: Skirt sizes
Waist 34" (on a good day), size 14(elasticated waist) or 16,depending on manufacturer. A length of 21" feels best at mid -knee (height 5'5" and shrinking) or 36". Nothing in between those lengths, mid-calf makes me look even shorter !. Interesting thread.

As one of the members who very rarely contribute, I have to admit that although I visit fairly regularly and spend half an hour or so reading other peoples posts, I often find I have nothing significant to add.to any given discussion. My skirt-wearing has settled into a regular pattern, I feel OK ab...

Re: An interesting discovery
I quite agree on the subject of long skirts --- my first skirt was knee length, as a hot weather alternative to shorts, which I have always found more uncomfortable than trousers, so haven't owned for years. The difference was a revelation, so I thought about buying more. The idea of going long was ...

Re: Late arrival
Thankyou all for your comments, particularly to Carl for helpful comments on the pictures. A little more information --- I live on my own, my wife having unfortunately died in June last year. (she didn't approve, said it was a daft idea, and yes, she did have more pairs of jeans in her wardrobe than...
