Re: I just dont under stand the logic.
Sorry, but unisex skirts are part of punk outfits and "medieval" skirts part of "gothic" wear. Neither skirt fashion had a significant effect on men's fashion in general so far.

Re: I just dont under stand the logic.
Must be tough to be young these days! I wonder what the youth has to come up with in future, in order to be different

Re: French footballer
Cool outfit, suits him well! He is not the first contemporary sportsman who willingly appears in skirts. There is at least David Beckman, who has been seen in various sarongs and skirts as well, and not looking bad either. I think, Brian Ferry had a concert wearing a kilt, there are probably many mo...

Re: Bare leg ban
Well, this is real life. Try to smoke a cigarette on a playground while children and their parents are around... Apparently, his bare legs were not the initial offense, but have to be seen in the context of hanging around at a school in unusual outfits, including a coat with apparently nothing under...

Style Guide
I am sorry, this is no style guide yet. I hope, it will become one. There are many discussions on this forum and other places, especially about how far a man can go with ambigous styles and the like, I don't want that. I would like an open and informative discussion about skirts for average men who ...

Re: Wearing a Skirt in public ?
About half a year ago, I used to ride the bus to work and there was one guy who often wore a skirt - plaid, apparently alluding to punk style - he also had a spiked leather collar and military boots, but it was not a kilt and not punkish at all, perfectly suited for a non-punk woman. Looked nice tho...

Re: What makes a skirt masculine?
This is a very interesting subject. I think, I can tell fairly well, if a skirt suits a particular man well or not, but I can't provide clear rules. But whenever I have the chance to see a man in "wrong" clothes, I try to find out, why he looks good or not. On the following website is a ma...

Re: Dresses!
I do have a dress which, as I think, looks good on men, but I am not sure, if an image would be welcome here. It is the material, I am concerned about (pvc), apart from that, the image is perfectly family friendly.

Re: Dresses!
Robes, dresses, gowns... I looked up some definitions: Robe: [n] outerwear consisting of a long flowing garment used for official or ceremonial occasions [n] any loose flowing garment Websters Dictionary of 1913: 1 \Robe\, n. [F., fr. LL. rauba a gown, dress, garment; originally, booty, plunder. See...

Re: Dresses!
I remember a funny incident in a small t-shirt shop, where I bought a knee-long t-shirt with a rubber around the waist. I didn't say that it was for me, probably even said that it was for a friend. But the owner, a woman in her 50s, if I remember well, almost begged me to try it on. I did, and she w...

Re: Dresses!
Sorry to tell you Dennis but it's been tried, by no less a fashionista than Mark Jacobs. It went over like a lead balloon. The models that wore what he designed looked like slaves in ancient Rome. Square necklines, mid-bicep sleeves, knee length garment, leather sandals. In single colors. Blue or W...

Re: A winter skirt for men?
There are a couple of makers of "rain skirts", skirts from fabrics similar to light rain jackets - polyamide and the like. Agu Sports used to make a nice one, that can eventually be found on ebay (NL, I think). Size S fits a waist of 34". This skirt also works on a racing bicycle, bec...

Re: Here is some interesting reading
not sure if this is more accurate, but another interesting read: http://www.fashionencyclopedia.com/fashion_costume_culture/Modern-World-1930-1945/Trousers-for-Women.html one quote from the first lines: "Throughout much of Western history, women's clothing has been very different from men's clo...
