Re: New guy checking in from Montana

Welcome, scooter skirt, western Montana can use more like you! I must admin I have broken the ground for you, as I have been skirted just about full-time in Missoula (except during work hours) for 6 or 7 years. The acceptance level is really quite remarkable! Outside of some disapproving glances and...

Re: Mountain Hardwear Mountain Kilt

That was my first skirt! When I heard that the model was being discontinued, I bought some spares. Since then, my collection has grown extensively, and as the kilt wears well, I really have no use for the spares. So I have a M and a L size, new with hang tags intact. If you are interested, I would b...

Re: UGG boots: Anyone wear them?

While Uggs may be looked down upon as a fashion no-no by some, I recently purchased a knock-off pair from Costco (warehouse club). At $36, they are about 1/4 of the price of real Uggs, but are still made from sheepskin. They are incredibly warm, being perfect for our temps which have run from -10 to...

Re: USA-specific: TSA enhanced pat-down

jaycee, You are absolutely on the mark! Sitting cramped up in the sorry excuse for a seat in cattle class is no fun! So I don't do it. I only travel a couple of times a year by plane now, but for a number of years I've only worn skirts on the plane. Travel is stressful enough without the misery of t...

Re: Cafe patrons' ages

Add another 1949 model to the vote tally. If only I had discovered skirts earlier! Oh, well, must make up for lost time! I wear almost exclusively except for work. With the temperature range we have ( -30 F to 105 F) that gives me plenty of skirt options that fit the weather. And believe it or not, ...

Re: Whither SkirtCafe?

While I don't post nearly as often as I should, I visit the forum almost daily. I would be interested in how many unique visitors we have, as compared to how many registered members. It could be a fair number of people visit the site, but for one reason or another don't register. If that is the case...

Re: Cafe patrons' ages

60 and counting, hopefully for a long time to come! I do think age gives one some perspective on life. You only go around once, and you may as well enjoy the ride! I didn't start skirting until mid-50's, when due to either maturity or too much scotch whisky, I took the skirt plunge. I'm not sure I w...

Re: Purse or Man's Bag

I've used a number of bags over the years, starting long before skirting. My current choice is from REI (Recreational Equipment Inc.) and is called the Boarding Bag. http://www.rei.com/features/zoom.html?img440=/media/q/1516579%26style=747932%26sku=7479320033&imageServiceHost=http://www.rei.com/...

Re: Skirted men spotted in the wild

John, If you are looking for a skirt-friendly place away from Seattle, I can vouch for Missoula, my town. Outside of work, I wear skirts probably 95% of the time, summer, winter, whatever. Most people are very accepting, generally with no comments. I've received a few double-takes, and once someone ...

Re: How do you translate sizes given in terms of a woman's body?

Hi, Skirt Chaser, I really like that Eddie Bauer skirt, in fact I tried it on a couple of months ago, but being a cheap SOB, I thought I'd wait until it was on sale! Bad move! When I got wind of the sale, my size was gone. I guess buying skirts at the local thrifts has spoiled me, and I hardly ever ...

Re: Uggs....anyone?

Uggs come in all sorts of styles besides the usual suede with shearling lining. I looked for a long time to find a nice fitting pair of warm boots that would look good with skirts. It was a tough search. The men's boots I could find were either the engineer/biker kind that didn't complement a nice s...

Re: skirt slits

Long skirts often need slits. I prefer either side or back slits for the most part with ankle-length skirts. I have couple of just-above the knee skirts that have buttons down the front, and since the buttons end a couple of inches above the hem, for all intents and purposes it functions as a slit. ...

Re: What did *you* wear "out and about" today? part2

Gold flannel shirt, brown stretch cord Eddie Bauer calf-length brown skirt, tights and fleece-lined boots. With a coat, since the temp was -1 F, with drops to -20 tonight. I am amazed at how warm a long skirt, tights and boots are. That kind of outfit puts my pants and shoes to shame! And a lot more...

Re: RainSkirts

My wife and I have Libby's Rain Wraps, and I can give them my complete approval! We got them especially for a trip to Scotland last April. The ability to quickly take them out, wrap around the waist and go without having to remove boots or shoes, made dealing with changeable weather very convenient....

Re: Warning-Please read and protect your computers

I hope you're back in full operations with the computer. There seems to be an infinite number of viruses, trojan horses, etc. that can infect computers. I'm an IT guy, and see all kinds of things. Owen's suggestion to use open source is a great one. I use OpenOffice at work, as well as Evolution and...
